I am going to upgrade from 500 gig to 1tb:


Can i take the old drive out and copy my recordings over to new drive in windows and put new drive in and mount it.

I know i can ftp from box to windows but i have few recordings and will take a while.

Windows wont recognize the HDD from your receiver unless you install a driver for it.

If you have an external USB drive in which you could (temporarily) replace the hard-drive you could put the old disk in there and, after setting up the new one, copy the files over.

As for mounting ext4 on Windows - the best option I've found is:

This is how i managed to do it :

Put the 1tb in a 2.5 Caddy

Usb port on PC allocated DID NOT FORMAT.

Put in usb port on vu solo2 intialised copied files from internal drive to usb drive.

Swapped drives put 1tb in vu box all working .

That only works if the drive has been mounted before.
