View Full Version : Open vix no joy
Hi I have tried to change from openatv image and to vix but no joy box just hangs on bootloader tried formatting different usb sticks still no joy can anyone please help tried vix 155 latest 163.
you need to load the bootloader for the box, once done, then flash with vix image of your choice. bootloader can be found in the vix image tab at the top
Thanks mate I have loaded bootloader before when I put on the open atv image is there a different bootloader for the open vix image?
am not sure. but i would download again from vix images and reflash.
Cheers mate for all your help on now just configuring.
Thanks mate only problem I have now is autobouquet can not create a individual bouquet for the lifestyle and culture? so cant see it in the epg any help or reason why this is?
it amalgamated in the entertainment. similar to Sly. the only way to do it is from the dreambox edit and make your own bouquet
its weird as its done all the others except that one.
lifestyles is no longer available, even on Sky box. this has been moved into Entertainment, so you wont get it, unless you setup your own bouquet or use someone else's bouquet. its a pain as i used to like watching lifestyles and was easier to access.
Ive just knackered box mate I think tried to backup switch off left usb stick in but it started to put bootloader on again and I turned it off by accident.
so whilst it was flashing bootloader, you accidentally switch if off??? is this right? how did switch - from the rocker switch?

i thought you had sorted it?
I had mate then accidentally turned off box while trying to do a backup turned box back on with usb stick still in box then turned box off as usb had bootloader on it and was flashing again now it just has xpeed on front any idea how to recover it.
before trying anything can you get into the box by FTP? as you may need to get into the box if these next steps dont work. try this first - download the vix image of your choice (preferably Apollo 163) please see link below, and flash your box, if it works your in and luckly. otherwise reload bootloader again and once done reflash the image. if this does not work this is where you need to get into your box by FTP to delete certain files (am not sure where these will be and you may need to do some research or if anyone on here can support.
follow the steps from here for flashing http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?41459-How-to-Flash-Golden-Interstar-Xpeed-LX1-and-LX2
is this a new box? where did you purchase it from?
Had it a while mate got it direct from the manufacturers when it first came out.
try what i have suggested and see how you get on.
Hi mate can't get in by ftp not seeing ip now xpeed stays on front of box don't seem to see any usb sticks mate. will try as above with vix bootloader
No luck mate put usb in switch off back on xpeed lx just stays on the front of box.
what was on the usb when you put it back in box ,bootloader or image?
Hi mate think it was the boot loader but may have been a image, think it was the bootloader though.
if in doubt start afresh with formatted usb and bootloader only and follow guides for flashing this box, then power off and format usb again and follow guides on image loading [ does file need extracting first hence the guides ]
remove all other usb and hdd externally before setup.
Interrupting a image mid flash would not brick the receiver it would be easily recoverable, interrupting a bootloader mid flash would absolutely brick it.
we are hoping and praying for a safe return for the zombie box:smash::smash:;)
i think he was doing the bootloader when he switch it off. so looks like it bricked:(
Hi guys been told maybe able to recover it by rd232 using the cfe file off the bootloader?
you can try. rs232 null modem cable. you may need to look for flashing software
Yes mate will have to try and find some.
so the bootloader and image file failed as you not said or tried?

If the bootloader has become crrupted you may and I do mean may be able to repair it via a j-tag assuming there is a j-tag solution publicly available for this receiver. If there is not you'r only other recourse would be to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. Not wanting to rub salt in the wounds rite now but this is why I always place warnings in big red letters in my Tutorials never to interrupt a bootloader flash.
