HTC one mini power button.

HI, My HTC one mini power button has broken off along with some of the back casing. I ordered a new button only to discover it does not stick or connect. Is there a special way for this to be connected? ie an adhesive of some kind?

The switch itself appears to be sprung steel soldered to the motherboard. I assume the button is just a piece of plastic held in by the (missing?) part of the case.
