My box has two Hybrid tuners, have one cable feed into bottom socket of tuner A, one cable feed into bottom socket of tuner B, and a loop cable from the top socket of tuner A to the top socket of tuner B.

For some reason, I thought this would allow me to record up to 4 channels. Am I right or a meringue?

is there anything else I need to do somewhere?

you need extra tuners to record more

No need for any loopthrough cable if both tuners have working feeds.

So why is there 4 inputs then if you can only use 2?

I also read it was possible to record up to 16 channels, how is that possible if it only takes 4 tuners?

You can use all 4 slots.
If you have input & output on both your tuners, you're using 2 single input tuners.
You can record more than 2 channels but will be limited to what each tuner is recording & what else is on those transponders.
The more tuner inputs with feeds, the better for more recording options.

Looking at the DVB-C tuner, the cable feeds should go into the top sockets (female type) unless the design has been changed recently. Also, if you have two working cable feeds, you shouldn't need any loop cable as Judge stated.

I went and got a 4 way splitter so have the option of adding another two feeds, but this wont make a difference will it?

@electrocop will that make a difference? I can do that easy enough with connectors i have

It will if you have 4 inputs, not 2 inputs & 2 outputs.

I hadnt even noticed the top ones were rf in and bottom ones were loop out. Took feeds out bottom ones and put them in top rf in ones and got "tune failed" message.

Best to reconfigure both tuners properly now so.
Menu -> Setup -> Service searching -> Tuner configuration.

You need a signal cable to each tuner. The loop out cable is needed unless you are using a splitter and there is a wire to tuner directly. See this thread http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?44799-Loop-RF-out-for-Cable-Terrestrial

You don't have four inputs. you have two inputs and two outputs for loopthrough.

so for example you have one feed going into the input of tuner A you can then use a loopthrough cable from the output of tuner A to the input of tuner B.

Nice one guys.

For some reason i only get signal when feeds are in the outputs, when i put them in the rf ins i got nothing. Weird but at least its working.

Would you mind posting a picture of the rear of receiver, showing the tuners? Thanks.
