View Full Version : [VU+ Solo SE] Box stop working

Hi,

I just came home today and my box doesn't work

It shows all the channels but nothing is playing and the satellite dish on left hand side corner keeps flashing trying to go from 28 degree to 28 degree

I re-flashed the box with a back up image I have and still no joy

I have a dish with a motor and I can move the dish along all my satellites but channels free to air are showing

What could be this problem?

cga

The Tuner A. Letter A shows in red, not in white as other vu box I have. Will that be the tuner?
This box is 3 month old only

It's probably either recording or streaming Tuner A so.
Have you checked either of those? Opened ports on your network for external streaming?

cga

I don't see recording anything. How can check Opened ports on network for external streaming? I never do any streaming unless somebody connected to my box and messed it up

There is a green light beside recording icon on the screen but I checked my other box and it is the same but the tuner A is white. Green light flashing

I don't understand this sentence. Can you help me understand what you mean?

Also, if you disconnect the network cable, can you select any channel you want?

The green light is the software update available icon.
If you telnet into the box & issue:

netstat
Do you see any external IPs connected?

cga

I don't see any external ip connected

I have this box connected to a twin LNB so my girlfriend switched to hotbird sat in box upstairs because she couldn't watch anything downstairs and left hotbird on downstairs (VU - SOLO SE)

When came myself I switched the SE downstairs to astra 28 while she had hotbird upstairs to try to sort the problem and the box downstairs was trying to go two 28 degree but no joy, then I switched of the box upstairs and the ES went to Astra 28 degree

I tuned the box upstairs to astra 28, so both boxes to 28 degree, I can get one or two channels now on the box downstairs Vu-SOLO ES but I keep getting tune failed and No data on transponder, time out reading PAT

It seems that the tuner is jammed

I telnet to the box and run killall enigma2
reboot

But still the same problem

Anything else I can do to fix the LMB is that is the case?

Ah, yes. The tuner will show as busy too while trying to get a lock.
Don't fully understand your set-up so can't really offer any further help, sorry.

How do you control one motorised dish with two differnt receivers? Surely only one of them can control the motor.

cga
02-04-15, 22:58
Ok I have two boxes SE downstairs and Amiko upstairs, both are connected to a twin LNB, I use a motor. VU SE box is the one with Tune A in red and the dish flashing on the screen. I can see all channels but when I click on them(free to air) they don't display. I have tried disconnecting the Ethernet cable as well, leaving only the dish cable connected but it doesn't work

In the box upstairs you can only watch channels that are in the same satellite than the SE box downstairs, the box downstairs (SE) is the one that control the motor

If you have downstairs astra 28 degree and change upstairs to hotbird you can't watch any channels upstairs, so both boxes have to be on the same satellite

The box upstairs was in hotbird and when switched downstairs from hotbird to astra the dish wouldn't move and it was like that for a while, still it is like that

If I do a factory reset will that help?

If I switch on the box upstairs pointing to astra 28 degree , it plays all the channels, the box downstairs is the one with the problem

Forget the receiver that is on the 2nd output of motor for now.

Setup the reciver that is in control of the motor asit should be. Double check it works fine and you can select any satellite channel you want. Once you have confirmed this is fine, then progress to the other receiver.

So the Solo SE moves the motor but receives no signal. Most likely cause is the cable between the motor and LNB. And if not, then probably the LNB faulty.

cga
03-04-15, 08:54
Solo SE moves the motor but receives no signal but the box upstairs receive channels signal. Should that still be the LNB faulty?

widar
03-04-15, 09:04
Try to change the feed from the Twin LNB, if half of it works, the one on the upper floor, not the one to the SE box.

Huevos
03-04-15, 21:47
Yes, could be one LNB output faulty but probably the cable between LNB and motor.

cga
04-04-15, 14:50
Guys you made a good point. I swapped the cable from the receiver upstairs to receiver downstairs and the SE works but I didn't want to jump to conclusions so I went to the shop and I bought a new LNB and everything is working now. SE LNB port was faulty

Excellent

Thanks for the help

Cheers

Today I got the same problem with my new LNB. No channels and my tuner is in red sometimes and I get tune failed

Any help much appreciated

I telnet my box and netstat and I get this output

Can someone translate it for me? I can see two IP address connected to my box. Does that mean my box is hacked

How to set up a password in Openvix image?

This is not working for me

Telnet into the box
Login user name is root then hit enter
you should see a ~#
Type passswd ( exactly like that ) then type your new password and hit enter followed by the new password again

cga

I have added a password just in case using passwd, there is a typo in command above

If you have ports 80, 8001 or 8002 open on your router (port forwarded) then close them. That will stop hacking. It would appear those IP addresses come from USA. What exactly is the typo?

cga
09-04-15, 21:50
I had port 80 and 81 forwarded to a server that is off at the moment. I have closed them

Also these ports below are forwarded to that server that is off, should I close them as well

8088-8089
32400-32401
58050-58051
9-10
8169-8170
9000-9001
4040-4041
4125-4126

I have also added password to my boxes

The typo is "passswd" which wasn't working to set up the passwords, then I got it to work "passwd"

Thanks

If nothing was forwarded to your Solo then it shouldn't have been a problem....you know I looked hard but missed the 3 s's in passswd. Just shows the brain sees what it wants to see.

On any linux based box, type the first letter or two & then press tab to see what options are available. Saves many spelling mistakes...

How can I stop this?

I disconnect the dish feed from the box and connect it back and I get all channels back again. Will that have anything to do with the LNB or dish motor

Huevos

I don't have any forwarded to my solo
I'm not sure if these IP addresses are somebody connected to my box because it shows all the time thereIf you don't have any ports forwarded no external source can connect to the receiver. That means those connections are being established by your receiver to the external source, not the other way round.

cga
11-04-15, 10:33
Something is faulty then. I have new lnb, my motor move fine. The box is new. What could be faulty?

cga
11-04-15, 13:30
I want to block the telnet port from the rooter or the receiver to disable the telnet in the box

Which port is the one used by telnet?

Tkr001
11-04-15, 20:07
Normally port 23

cga
17-04-15, 08:49
I can confirm my box problem showing (Tune Failed) has nothing to do with internet cable connected to the box

I unplug the Ethernet cable and still I get "Tune failed" when I turn on TV in the morning or in the evening, then I unplug the dish cable from the box and plug it back and start working

The LNB is new and the box is 3 month old

Could that be the box tuner or the dish motor?

cga
17-04-15, 11:33
Where can I get the original VU SOLO SE image that came with the box?

electrocop
17-04-15, 17:34
The latest Vu+ images for your box can be downloaded directly from the Vu+ official website (not sure if i'm allowed to post a link here or not, so i won't but it's easy enough to find)

cga
21-04-15, 08:50
Got them. I sorted the problem by replacing the tuner on the SE
