View Full Version : vu solo crashing every day
I have a vu solo on vix Apollo 089
its set to update with crossepg 0.8.1 and opentv every day at 4am and saved on a usb stick at the back of the box, which also stores the picons.
every morning I turn the tv on, its froze with a vix icon in the corner of the screen and needs a reboot. I can't use a newer vix image as it doesn't support 1080i, I just get a black screen and have to reflash my backup image.
any suggestions?

Have you got a swap file set up?
no I don't,
what is that used for and how?
done a search for swap file and have set it up

it would only let me set up onto a hard drive I have plugged in. it didn't show the usb stick as that is formatted to fat32
I've set it up to 256mb and activated autostart
do I need to do anything else?
would it be better to format the usb stick to ext3,4 and will that let me have crossepg and picons set there

You can have picons/epg file on any file system, fat or ext.
Swap GUI will only allow you create on ext file system.
thanks for your help, i'll see how it goes from now
hopefully that's it, it was working well this morning
Btw you can use the latest image. The 1080 your thinking about is the skins not the image itself.
Is your epg data being downloaded to your usb drive??
I couldn't use the latest image for the solo. vix apollo 160 was the one I tried. when going through the setup wizard, if I select 1080i it just gives a black screen that I can't get off. so have to reflash with my older backup.
yes, the epg data is going to my usb stick in the back of the box. I've set it up as usb2, formatted in fat32
Ahh I see what you mean.. I loaded latest version onto my solo but had to pick 720. The swap file should help you. I had the crashing issues back when I used this box.

Yeah latest Apollo image on Solo does indeed have the 1080i issue at the moment. It is being looked at though.
