Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this, I have setup my bouquet list for 28.2, and can see channels like BBC 1 etc, but the screen is blank and I get a message saying tuning failed.

I can view some of the other channels, such as Pick TV, but not the ones I actually want to watch.

The Satellite dish was used with an old sky box many years ago.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks

Simon

Welcome.

If you do a single satellite search, how many channels do you get? Also, just to confirm, are you in the UK?

If I do a single satellite search using astra I get loads of channels, many from different countries.

Yep in Yorkshire.

Have you set your area up correctly in AutoBouquets Providers, mine is England SD.NE & C/Tyne Tees S but I could also have SD Yorkshire and Tyne Tees s and SD Tyne Tees N

I did a simple single scan and got 450 ish services. Did have any BBC channels. Most seemed to be sky channels with the green encryption card symbol. 4HD was also encrypted.

You lnb has most probably failed. You can confirm by connecting receiver to a friends dish

It's Openvix-Youvix-Blue they also do a Red/Green and Purple one you can download them from the Plugins

they used to be in a separate 1080_Skin folder but for some reason they are now among the standard skins

Is there a debug log that would show the errors if the lnb is broken. Any recommendations for a replacement?

Would need to see arm of dish to be able to recommend one. You will need an adapter if you get a Mk4 LNB. If you have a dish with a very small slot for the LNB holder, you may struggle to get the adapter.

Compare the prices of new LNB/bracket against a new dish. The Mk4 dishes are slightly larger and have better reception.

The normal "legacy adapter" will fit in the dish. You are looking at roughly £13 for both adapter and quad LNB although you can get cheaper if you shop around. For about £10 more you can get a new dish with LNB included, this is optional but you will notice an increase in signal levels.

Also, as you have a Solo2, might be an idea to run new cable to receiver and make use of both tuners.

Any good online stores to buy this from, would go for new dish and lnb, any makes or models?

Thanks si

OK new dish up, bit now I have no signal at all. Could this be alignment ? The lnb has 4 ports does it matter which on I have plugged the cable into ? Has any got DMS satfinder app working ?

It does not matter which port. Check f plugs have not worked loose.
I use enigma signal finder on phone

Cheers got the app working. I wonder if the f plug hole is deep on the new dish and I might need to make the copper longer.

Should be fine as it was. Only issu you get sometime sis when undoing the connection, the f-plug can work loose.

Describe excalty what you did when you replaced the dish please?

simonuk1

Unscrewed the f plug from the old dish. Replaced the dish and screwed f plug back into new lnb.

Try removing the f-plug and refitting it just incase it has come a little loose from the cable.

that sounds like your only using 1 cable or 2 cables?

simonuk1

Just 1 cable at the moment, as that's what the old dish had.

There are other youtube tutorials on aligning a dish

Also did you waterproof the f plug to LNB connection with a tight fitting boot or self amalgamating tape?
