View Full Version : internal hard drive vs. external hard drive

I have an ET9200 and I use OpenVIX image and have used internal and external hard drives via eSata connection.

I'm looking to upgrade to Enigma 2 receiver that supports modular tuners for DVB-S/C/T, 3 is OK but why not get 4 if spending the cash.

The Mutant HD2400 sounds excellent and exactly what I'm looking for but it doesn't support internal 3.5" hard drives and no eSata either. The ET10000 (supports internal 3.5" hard drives and eSata) has about the same specs and isn't really more expensive than the Mutant if you have to buy a 1TB or greater 2.5" hard drive.

I have too many 3.5" hard drives laying around to "waste" money on buying a 2.5" hard drive for the Mutant.

My question: is there a noticable lag when using external hard drives via USB 2.0 vs. internal or external with eSata connection? If there is no noticable difference, then I'll go for the Mutant.

Thanks for any help.
