View Full Version : Can I use an official subscription card in a VU+ Solo2?

I took out an official Sky UK subscription recently but I would prefer not to have two receivers. Is it possible to use the subscription card in my Solo2 to view these channels so I don't need to have both receivers?

Yes but you will not get the subscription hd channels on a non official sky receiver.

Sorry, can I just check something?

I'm completely new to the world of Linux boxes
I've got a v old sky hd box which is on its last legs and was planning to ditch sky and move to FTA with a by+ duo box (not duo2) from WOS - from what your saying if I get the VU+ box now I can set it up, plug my existing sky card in and get all the subscription channels I do now? Is that right? I don't have HD or 3D channels anyway, well only bbc HD etc

Not that simple unfortunately. Your card has probably been paired to your official box as it has been in use recently. That means you won't get the premium channels like sports and movies even in SD.

How old is v old? If it's a thomson you will be ok for premium channels.

Sent by pressing the screen on 1 of my Apple devices, cuz that's how I roll..

Thanks it's not that old (inept Thomson) just a couple of years which is an age in relative terms lol
Yes its been paired but say I can convince them to send me a new card for whatever reason, would that perhaps work if it went into the VU+ in an "unpaired" state?
Thanks in advance

Conflicting advice on this topic. Some say you can't authorise a new card using an enigma2 box like the VU.

What might work is to put the card in an old SD box and get it working. Then transfer the card to a VU box. Although as said above that method might only work with an old Thomson SD box.

Nothing certain with this subject.
