After upgrading yesterday to Apollo 121, playback of mkv, mp4, and avi files became choppy. Every three to five seconds the image will stop flowing smoothly, as if it freezes for a few video frames, before continuing. The release notes mentioned something about new VU drivers in build 121. Could there be a problem with them? Am I the only one experiencing choppy playback after upgrading?

All media playback on these receivers is handled via the hardware and drivers, so yes it's entirely possible that a driver update can negatively affect media playback although AVI's and MKV's are not really formats in their own rite but containers.

It is important to ensure that these media files (especially those you "find" on the internet") are correctly encoded for the best possible playback on your receiver, try running one or more of the affected files through something like handbreak and see if that fixes things.
