Need some guidance, in my front room I have a SKY HD box and a Duo Box. I have 2 Sky cables coming into the room for Sky but I want to split that so I can watch freeview on the Duo. I pay a Sky subscription with multiroom but also want to use Duo as I can FTP movies etc into it were I can't with the Sky box.

Is it possible to do this and what kit would I need?

thanks

if you have got a quad lnb fitted to your sky dish, which I think is standard practice these days it may be easier to run another cable direct to your Duo, depending on how complicated the cable run is.

You cannot split a satellite cable. Reason:In essence a quad LNB is four separate LNBS. A signal is sent through each cable to each LNB as to what to switch to, low/hi/vertical/horizontal. You cannot have two receivers sending signals to one LNB.

Ideally running independent cables from LNB is the best solution, you may need to change LNB to octo (eight outputs).

You could also only connect one cable to each receiver making sure you set single feed mode on your Sky receiver.
