You would be better with a cheap enigma2 box and home plugs so you could use remote stream channel converter

You could get a channel transponder or use an old video recorder go from vu box via scart to transponder or video then run rfout to second tv. To change channel in bedroom I use phone app

I would like to know how I could send the video from the downstairs TV to my bedroom.Perhaps being pedantic, but the TV is surely a passive display device, and not about to send anything anywhere.

I would go with the extender over hdmi cat5/6 option and download an app called enigma 2 and use that as a remote.

I use these, but they require a cable. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Up-to-100m-120m-HDMI-Extender-Over-Signal-Cat5-5e-Cat6-LAN-Cable-HD-1080P-TCP-IP-/111450816069?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Video_Ca bles_Adapters&hash=item19f2fc7e45

Also they don't work with HomePlugs

Check out the other thread on this here.
There might be someone else worth the same model TV. There's been a few discussions on how to enable develop mode.

Been using this HDMI with IR extender down 1 cat5 cable

http://www.netviewcctv.co.uk/index.php/home-sale/hdmi-extender-with-ir-utp-balun-120m-over-1-cat5e-cat6-for-cctv-dvr-nvr-video.html
, works well with my Solo2 , box in downstairs living room, HDMI split and extended to bedroom where box can also be controlled from. Just need to get a 2nd remote for the bedroom.

Had the same problem. You can install vu player app in android phone, and control satellite downstairs with this.
Then mirror stream from phone to Samsung smart TV. Ps I had bother getting Samsung to pick up my mobile until I installed another app in the mobile called Wifi Display (Mira cast).
Think this would also work with other smart TVs.
