transcoding via openwebif questions

hey guys

I finally got round to looking into transcoding via VPN as I had it tried opening ports but obviously the box started being controlled on its own lol.

I now have 2 questions

Can I still safely port forward port 8002?

and

Using openwebif stream via 8002 option, I can assume that this is the transcoding option?

if you are accessing your home network through a vpn you dont need to forward any ports, just connect to the machines ip/port as long as thats in the vpn too.

Also What program plays the .m3u files from openwebif on andriod and ipad devices?

if you're on VPN, you can just use the android VU+ Player app as it should function like your on the local network (which via the vpn you essentially are).
