Hi can you install Apollo HD as an update or must it be a fresh install and can you use backed up settings Thanks

nsw9154
29-10-14, 15:08
Hello yes you can install it as an update, that's what I did from Apollo 64 and it loaded in as normal, although I will have to update my plugins later as the feeds are down at the moment but that should be easy enough to do and every thing seems to be working fine :)
I forgot to mention that my back up of Apollo 64 worked as normal and I still have all my settings from my previous updates apart from my plugins but I only use the weather and on demand plugins any way

Vu have finally updated to allow full use of the 1080 frame buffer needed for rossi's skin. So hopefully it won't be too long before you see the OpenViX HD images for the Vu+ receivers.

As I said Vu have finally allowed full use of the 1080 frame buffer allowing the ViX HD image to be built for this machine.

Look here for proof of that.

Hi All

Just updated to image 70 (VU+Solo2) and cannot see any difference in the skin settings, is there another step I have to take in order to make the HD skin active (in the Image information screen I see a text scrip that says Pli-Full-HD Image by.....any suggestions in obtaining the new HD skin

Kind Regards

Do a blue button, ViX and image manager, yellow button and chose the top image that says 'openvixhd-Apollo.070xxxxxx' then green button to download then exit one and restore (blue button) on image you have just downloaded. You can restore from a saved backup. :D

Larry-G
29-10-14, 20:40
The Pli-HD skin is a direct rip off from a skin made by Delagroov (http://www.world-of-satellite.com/member.php?6228-Delagroov). without even mentioning him in the credits, it's also not a full HD skin, currently the only skin that does take full advantage of the 1080 framebuffer is the YouViX skin in the ViX HD image (maybe the Red HD skin too but I could be wrong about that).

Are you actually using the ViX HD image or the standard ViX image ?, because the ViX HD image has the full 1080 YouViX skin set as standard.

Andy, thank you so much for the clear instructions that you kindly listed absolutely happy to report that it all worked perfectly my mistake was that when I was looking at the back up files the latest image 70 was not listed at the last update it was located with the five backups that I had stored.

Well what can I say, this skin is awesome really love it and so I have to say a big, big thumbs up to the developer/development team for what I would consider the nicest looking skin I have ever seen the blue is amazing on my Pioneer Kuro, thank you Andy/Pheonix and the whole community

I dont deserve any thanks here mate, I am just a crash test monkey, who helps out on the forum and creates the odd tutorial. The devs such as Andy blac, Rossi, Rob, Huevos, Mcquaim, etc etc etc deserve all the thanks here.

not unless their manufacturer enables 1080 frame buffer support in their drivers.

The UNO is a troublesome box; it is really low on flash. Here flash is always 99% taken.
Make sure not to install Samba, as that's a major flash eater. Also picons to USB helps a bit.
And of course only install what you really need.

Please could the see-through EPG option be a tad less transparent? Could options for the % transparency be added?

Loving the skin mate, great job.
Is there anyway on the EPG page the grey colored writing in the next program section could be made to stand out a bit more?
It seems clearer on the screengrab, than from a distance actually viewing on the tv. Hope this makes sense buddy.
Keep up the great work mate, much appreciated!

Hey Phoenix and Ureyesonly. I have a Vu Solo2 - I have checked the other modles in the VU range in the image download section. The HD images were moved to a sub folder "HD" and the latest image I can see for any of the the VU range is 90? Have I missed something?

The HD image has been discontinued and merged into the base ViX image from build 095 onwards. reflash your receiver with any base ViX image from build 095 on and you will be able to download the HD skins from the feeds for all compatible receivers.

Hey Phoenix, Sorry! missed that. I did actually download the 96 update, but saw the "standard" style Apollo front splash screen, so thought I had gone wrong.

BTW - is there a way the get the OpenViX HD theme splash screen and any other attributes that don't come with the skin?

The HD image was discontinued and it's code merged into the standard ViX image, there will be no further updates for the ViX HD image line. Just flash the latest ViX image from www.openvix.co.uk and download the HD (1080) skins from the image plugin feeds where the hardware supports them.
