I am considering buying a TM Nano 2 Super and have been read the Sticky above which explains the process of updating the receiver.

It says:
Items you need before we start
Compression software such as 7zip
HP Format - not essential but highly recommended
Teracopy - not essential but highly recommended

Are these 3 bits of software already on the stb when I buy it or do I have to download/copy this software onto the stb?
What is meant by the statement "not essential but highly recommended".

After installing the software will I loose my channel lists?
Also, will I need to reconfigure the stb to "see" all the satellites again?

I am particularly interested in news feeds and other such things. Do any of the software updates allow feeds in the 4:2:2 format?

My current receiver is Echostar AD-3000IP. So as you can imagine moving up to a TM Nano 2 Super is quite a step up!!!!!!!!

These are programs on PC.

You dont need them , but it is recommended to have them.

After flashing an image, everything is wiped from teh internal memory. However, you can restore settings (This includes channel data and tuner configuration). From time to time, it may be required taht you do not do not restore settings. You can always save bouquets to PC and transfer back to teh receiver receiver using programs such as Dreamset/Dreamboxedit.

If a terrestrial tuner interests you, the TM 3T combo may be a good option.
