Bought a couple of cable tuners a couple of months ago for my box.

I have only just got around to fitting them today but the problem is they won't scan any channels in.

I have setup how I think is correct but still no joy

I have a dreambox running with a cable tuner and that works fine so I'm not sure where to start

I have used the line I know works but the venton still won't find anything

Anybody have any info or help

Thanks

Be careful where this thread goes.... also re-read the rules.

Thanks I'm not wanting to discuss anything forbidden on the forum

What I nearly mean is I am using cables tuners in my receiver but I can't get them to scan any channels whatsoever
the cable line itself is good and live as I have a different receiver with a cable tuner that can scan the channels in no problem

I just need help as to if the tuners I have could be faulty

As far as I am aware swapping the tuners over then configuring the tuners in the service menu is all that's needed along with your provider and net id which I have input correctly

I have tried a cables.xml fine I know to work for me but again it doesn't want to find anything no fta or anything

Thanks

What have you set your tuners as? Are you sure splitter is not faulty?

Tuners are setup as dvbc in the menu
I have taken the splitter out of the equasion by connecting directly to the box on the wall with a short cable
just to eliminate that as a cause

Likely hood of both tuners being at fault is low. WHile testing remove one of them and test one at a time. Try using ABM with one tuner connected.

That's exactly my thinking as well would be very unlucky to have 2 not work

Autobouquet makers fails when I try it
I wasn't sure if it would work without any channels scanned as I was under the impression it needed to be tuned to a channel to work

ABM does not pre-existing chanenls. Autobouquets does.

What does it fail on?

Post a screenshot of your tuner config for that tuner

It fails saying cannot read data and in the log it says timed out

Can you confirm only one tuner card is connected in receiver?

You can take screen shots by pasting this in browser. Change x to make correct IP address

If I do an automatic scan whith those settings above it fails to find a transponder and says

ERROR - failed to scan (error starting scanning)

I have the vento connected to the exact feed that has the reception on the other receiver

abu baniaz

You can't be using same feed, it must be split somewhere. Connecting the other receiver in this location will confirm signal is fine at this point. No point continuing until we know that reception is fine here.

What was the error in ABM please?

I'm out of this thread until you confirm the other receiver locks on to a signal in this location. Or you take this receiver to where the other one is and use the cabling that the other one is using.

Right I have plugged the working receiver into the line I am trying to get the venton setup on and that works fine the signal is good
when I put the venton back in it won't find channels

So the other receiver gets signal at this location

Lets forget scanning for now. Use bouquets from your other box onto the Venton.

Would appriciate if you could tell me the quickest way to do that

Use Dreamset/Dreambox edit

Receive files from receiver that has them. Save to PC.

Alternate Dreamset config to use Venton
Send settings to Venton.

YOu will now have excatly same chanenl deatils on both receivers

then I suppose if that doesn't work then the tuners must be faulty?

Here's the screens of the other receiver in the ventons location
Sorry, but they're not screenshots, screengrabs of screenshots & just as impossible to read as your previous camera ones.
Save the image created & upload those when asked for screenshots.
Makes reading settings a lot easier, saves you typing out every line & saves anyone trying to help having to guess what you might have set.

Sorry only had my phone handy

I've transferred the bouquets across from the working receiver but it just shows 0 signal and nothing on screen

I can only assume these both must be bad as I have now tried both tuners one at a time phisically taking the other one out of the receiver

The DM has an f connector, the Venton have a push connector (belling lee). How are you converting? Can you post a picture please?

reeves1985

I have a f connecter adaptor
its basically the f connector screw with a plug the other side instead of the f plug
but I also have a fly lead as well

Just a quick update
I have spoken to ththsponser over the phone
who has advised to test using a tv aerial first as that will obviously rule out if the tuners are faulty

I must say cannot fault them for the response and speedy email reply.

Another update
been in contact with the sponsor throughout the day

Tried the terrestrial side of the tuner to no avail so going to let the guys test them and hopefully get it sorted

Just a quicky, did you set to scan Virgin Media AND your net id in ABM?
You really shouldn't need to manually or automatically scan for channels, ABM if configured correctly is all you will need, also make sure you don't have sections hidden in ABM.

reeves1985
23-10-14, 00:24
Yes I tried everything

Neither tuner would scan any terrestrial channels in either

Abm just failed saying cannot read data

Quick update

Received new tuners and all setup and working (except for recording issue)

I think the problem was to do with the tuners I had having dip switches on them

Anyway sponser quickly sorted and I can't say fairer than that
