I had 32 on, updated to 42 without an issue. Flashed 41, no restores or plugins etc. Updated to 42 fine too.

If you can get serial boot logs (using a serial cable), that could lead to identify the problem. If not, perform a USB flash of 41. I can only guess it is a plugin/driver you had installed. Sorry, if I am mistaken.

With the TMs, if it is stuck on "booting", not a big deal. If it is stuck on "starting" that is a very big deal.

Online update to 42 working fine here, just a glitch/network issue when you tried?

If you can list what plugins etc you had installed, taht could help find what caused issue.

041 had an opkg config file for ocram (picon files). But that server isn't/wasn't running, so any attempt to update or add extensions failed.
The "cure" was to delete the ocram config file in /etc/opkg.
In 042 the config file has been removed.

Mind you, even with that config file in place it shouldn't hang - just take a long time to come back with nothing.
