Morning all.

Id like to be able to access my motor dish from stb2. Recording is not needed.
Goimg of some of abus pictures is the following diagram the correct way to achieve this?

37348

So from that id need 2 x 2in 1out diseq switches? Just need to be sure before i purchase things.

So stb1 can only control tjr motor ans then stb2 can receive anythimg on the sat which tje motor is set to

Yep that's how I have set up my two dish with motor (Only using quad LNB's and 4-1 switches). Works well, only problem I faced when setting up was that one of the LNB's did not work well in this set up. It could tune to channel but signal was lost after a while (changing to an different brand LNB fixed the problem).

yo cheers

there are many brands of diseq switch, will any brand be ok like a cheapy one? :)

Just make sure you do not set up STB 2 as motorsied as some swithces wont take the extra voltage.

There is a configuration that you can use so that you do not have to change the config on STB2 whenever STB1 moved the dish. Cant find the thread.

I used EMP-Centauri switches and Inverto Black LNB's. As said with an "cheap" LNB I ran into problems... There is not so much price difference bethween good quality switch and the cheap copy I would not try to save there. As the configuration is more complex the chances of getting into problems with the cheap parts increases ;)

hi may i ask you only wish stb1 to control the motor not both

It is only possible to control with receiver which has the co-axial cable connected to the motor.

Exceptions/Variations
RemoteStreamConverter
High Isolation switch.

only asked as i never used diseq switches so do not know the set up always had the usals configuration. however i have got motorised dish and 1 fixed dish which i run vu duo and vu duo2 and both boxes A tuners is connected to the fixed dish and b tuners to motor however what tuner is connected to what dish is up to you. using a smart priority switch, i can control the motorised dish on the master/slave principle with both stb so
If the master receiver (defined by smart priority switch) selects the motor {LNB B}, the switch prevents the slave receiver from connecting to motor/moving the dish.
If the master receiver selects the static dish {LNB A}, the switch allows the slave receiver to connect to the motor/move the dish. This works with both USALS and Diseqc 1.2 i should imagine.

or as abu baniaz post use remotestreamconverter save you all the trouble and cost

Diseqc switch and diseqc motor controls are two differnt things.

Can you post a diagram of your setup please? Also does your setup mean only only receiver can access the motorsied dish as opposed to only one being able to control it.

ideally i would like to be able to control the motor with both boxes.
but i thought it wasnt possible to do that.

i was told that but you can do the same thing without the cables with the plugin

remotestreamconverter only works if you keep the server box online all the time,

as i dont, i cant use that solution.

will have a look at those smart switches :)

If the smartswitch does not work out for you and if you don't mind a manual switch, consider a high isolation switch. Only one receiver will have access to the motor. Means running cable from switch to other receiver.

Or use a WOL-capable box as server.

getting a bit lost here,if he changed lnb on motor to double or quad it would allow 2 boxes independent views but on same sat any use?

yes, i have a twin inverto black lnb on my motor dish atm.

i thought of WOL too, but that still wont work with the box switched off at the mains.

any network solutions are no go, i got plenty cable and compression f's i only need to buy a smart switch and some diseqs

Why would you want to switch off mains?

i thought about multi-lnb setup aswell, but id be limited to the amount of lnbs i could put on my 1mtr orbital. plus the mass of cabling for those setups is big :)

i always switch stuff off at the wall socket. everything is off then as im not using it.

An STB in deep uses around 0.5W

rossi2000
01-10-14, 15:06
yep that maybe so, its still 0.5w more than 0. :)
and i have more than an stb plugged in.
