sly card in vu

hi ,i had my sly card working ok in my vu until i took it out and put it in a different sly box [not the one i took the serial number from] now i put it back in my vu but now not working any thoughts thanks

Hi mate

Ok the card is paired with the orignal sky box so first question is how comes you tryed it in another skybox, at that point did you get the card paired with the other recevier if so then your need the number from that receiver.
If you never did this had you put your box key into your CCcam config.
Last things to check .. have you put the card in the right slot from the last time you had it working also have you inserted it the card in the right way?

Just a thought: I used to read S*y card with scam 3.59 and it was working without any special config, I didn't even need box number.

Ok two more questions first is it the same card could it have been swaped ? 2nd can you put into your receiver and using CCcam logger check entitlements see if they are still indate it could be simply that in the time the card has been out of box the entitlements have passed. If this is the case leave on 28e overnite or return to original sky box or last resort play dumb and ask sky to rehit the card.

if your daughter borrowed the card for a week and used it with another sky box then it must have paired it self with that box otherwise there is no way she would have been able to view the premium paid for channels.

no she did not have premium chans only the ones you get with any sly box she has no telephone connected to her box

no you can put any sly card in any box and get everything except movies and sport ,,you get all the sly 1.2.3 all living all bravos

true but there is a secret menu that can pair a card to box with out calling sly and also wen sly send out entitlements if your daughter had the card in her box she wuld have got entitlements and the card would have paired to hers. just call sly and say your card aint working they will either sort the entitlement or send you a new card

thanks the card is working in my box fully so the card is paired to mine,what is the secret menu? if you are allowed to divulge ..i also have the entitlements very strange/

thanks that is the engineer access code i dont think you can paire a card that way only through sly ,i have been an engineer for the last 20 years and had to call sly with every card paire

yes its the enginner menu and i have done it my self with a telephone line plugged in you press ok on new installation and it pairs i do it my self all the time

Yes that is for a new install only when the card is new,you can only paire a working card to a different box through sky

seeing as you are the sly engineer not me, i'll agree with you. but will say i have done it myself, its just a case of waiting once its done for the entitlements to come over to the card for the new box. [the same as when the adviser says 'leave your card in and box turned on it can take from 2 mins to 4 hours to update]

Can you get movies? have you entered the box key in the config file?

I don't have movies, boxkey is entered in config file, maybe I have it in wrong directory, where exactly does it go.

Make sure you have the correct box key



On the back of your sly box is a 17 digit number

Ignore the first 6 and the last 1 number, that gives you a 10 digit number.

For example, if your 17 digit code is

1E200506858456748

You would ignore the first 6 (1E2005) and the last one (8)
which would leave you with the 10 digit number 0685845674

google for a hex convertor (or use your calc if it has one),place the 10 digit number in and convert it to Hex.

The above example would give 28E12CAA which is your box key entered as (note the spaces)

BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 28 E1 2C AA

If your box key turns out at only 7 characters add a 0 (zero) to the beginning of the number to make it 8 characters long. CCcam.cfg file should be in your /etc directory

(note the first two C's in CCcam are caps, everything in Linux is case sensitive)
