What would I need to do try RSI out, do I need to update drivers, bootloader etc before? Currently running Apollo 032, drivers 03/09/2014...

Thanks.

Oh balls!

Can anyone help with a sick GB please?

{EDIT}

The mess I've made so far.

Updated bootloader gigablue_bootloader_gbquad_20130507.zip
Flashed OpenRSI-4.0-gbquad-20140914.zip

Got stuck at the OpenRSI splash screen, red light, started to panic!

Changed USB stick, disconnected everything, re-flashed bootloader.
Flashed OpenRSI-3.0-gb800seplus-20140104.zip

Still stuck at OpenRSI splash screen, red light. Chewing in Diazepam like smarties because I know my old fella is really gonna blow his top!

Re-flashed bootloader again.
Flashed Openmips 4.1

Splash screen, red light etc...

Is there anything practical I can do to revive this box or is it a (hopefully) warranty job?

Thanks for editing the post and adding OpenRSI rather than leave us guess to which repetitive strain injury you have...

Ok which box do you have, you have posted under the quad heading but you say you have flashed with OpenRSI-3.0-gb800seplus-20140104.zip which is a different box..Make sure you flash with a image for your box

i would try and revert back to what you had running on it before i.e apollo 032 with the newest bootloader..Flash the bootloader then the image, see how that goes

My mistake Richard, it was OpenRSI-3.0-gbquad-20140104.zip the second time.

Will give the bootloader and Apollo 032 another go later. Fingers crossed.

Thanks.

Try this bootloader for Quad, then download Openmips 4.2,worth a go.

Thanks stanley!

Is mips 4.2 OK to use? Thought I spotted something yesterday about stability issues..

using it myself for the past few months, no issues, runs smooth.

Bootloader and image flashed but stalls at main splash screen.

Looks like an RS232 and putty to save the day..

Anyone know of any rescue programs knocking about?

Just a thought Jason, have you unplugged hard drive/usb dongle before you boot..Sometimes mine hangs if these are plugged in

try a different usb stick, format stick between loading bootloader and image.

Cheers for the advise chap but I think the box is mullered. Now it's just boot looping :( The hard disk spins up then the box turns off..?

Really annoying because I've used all the correct files, it's not like I've flashed another boxes firmware

If I can find something to revive the box with a cable I'll give that a go. Did read on another forum that people use Putty to do repairs but it Linux command based so I'll have to find that as well.

All good fun..

maybe just try basic connections, power, sat cables, disconnect hard drive, ethernet etc, thats about all I can recommend, best of luck with recovery.

Cheers for your help stanley..!

Dropped it off at the local sat repair guy this morning, apparently he's had a few Giga's that have gone the way this one has and it 99% sure he can fix it on the understanding that no other box image has been flashed to it which this hasn't..

Fingers crossed!!
