Hi, I'm fairly new to all this satellite hardware and was hoping for some advice on what box to purchase.

I'm looking for a twin satellite tuner box up to about £200.

Having looked in the web store I am a bit confused about what box is best for my needs.

Which brands are best and what features should I be looking for?

Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Vu+ are head and shoulders better than others imho but rest are not bad.

At your price point for twin TM are good. Miraclebox is I that range but never used so can't recommend.

Thanks Stanman, I did have a look at vu+ solo2 but it is above my budget at 269

is the technomate tm-nano 2 super any good? I've been reading they have issues with their drivers?

I have TM2T and it was a pile of poo a while back but recent drivers have made it a great little box.

Not got a nano and can't speak from personal experience but some of the staff have and speak well of it.

Thanks for the advice.

Anyone with a TM-2 Nano here that would like to share their views on the box?
Just checked the support forum and there are not that many threads:confused:

I'd be looking at the neer generation 1.3Ghz boxes.
The TM-Nano 2 Super is a great box for the price & most driver issues have been sorted.

Is the TM-nano 2 super one of the newer generation boxes?

Yes .

I have narrowed it down to the Technomate TM-Nano 2T and Technomate TM-Nano 2 Super.

Does the clock speed on the dual core processors (405Mhz compared to 1.3GHz) and more RAM (384 DDR2 compared to 1GB DDR3) make a big difference? If so, in what way?

Yes. Faster boot times, faster EPG & so on...

A Receiver with a 1.3GHz processor and 1GB of DDR3 memory will always out perform a Receiver with only a 405MHz and 384meg DDR2 given the same test conditions as it has 3 times the processing power and nearly 3 times the memory so it will perform faster Hopefully
and like judge said faster boot times and generally a faster response when you need it

I like the specs of the tm-nano 2 super but it doesn't seem to have a front display

TBH bar the DUO2 and SOLO2, all the ones I have had with VFD have been pretty useless. Its not really a biggy if it has no VFD compared to the ones that have quite small ones. Only time in live when small is not so bad:D

That's one of them things that people either prefare or are not bothered by, personally speaking I like a Front display :D

The nano 2 super is a very smart and quick little receiver, then again it should be as its based on the Vu+ solo2. and with no bright VFD it makes a great bedroom receiver.

How does the VU+ Solo 2 compare with the TM-Nano 2 Super in terms of performance? They have similar specs but one is £200 and one is £269

Most seem to praise the VU+ Solo 2 due to the specs of the box and the support available for it.

without a doubt the solo2 is better if for no other reason than it has greater image / driver support but the TM is certainly no slouch either. if you dont have budget restraints go for the solo2, you wont regret it.

VU+ boxes are more expensive but they are really well made. I had a vu+duo2 and everthing about it was top quality. Compared to the build quality of my latest box which comes no were near a VU+.

Yes they are my Duo2 is very well made you can feel the Quality just taking the cover off to fit an Hard Drive you know that it is going to last for years

VU & TM have similar build quality in my opinion. If budget isn't an issue, I'd still opt for VU though.

I'd like to keep it within budget (£200), so I may opt for one of TM-Nano 2 Super/TM-Nano 2T.

What's the best image to flash on the TM boxes?
