Hello All,

Just read this (by now late) news:-
On May 26, 2014, satellite operator Eutelsat announced the launch of Europe's first Ultra HD demo channel in HEVC, broadcasting at 50 frames/second. The channel is available on the Hot Bird satellites and can be watched by viewers with 4k TVs equipped with DVB-S2 demodulators and HEVC decoders.

So would this mean that by now there are more UHD channels via satellite, I can't seem to find the standard listed if there is. I'm hoping my UV+ Duo can manage this new standard, any info on this would be welcome.

Apparently, there are two types of UHD signal,
4K UHDTV (2160p) which is 3840 pixels wide by 2160 pixels tall (8.3 megapixels), which is four times as many pixels as 1920x1080 (2.1 megapixels) and 8K UHDTV (4320p) which is 7680 pixels wide by 4320 pixels tall (33.2 megapixels), this being sixteen times as many pixels as current 1080p HDTV

Those are just test channels at present and I very much doubt the current generation of E2 receivers can handle UHD. I may be wrong however.

The Original Duo Only Has An Output Resolution Of 1080i And It's Also Limited By The HDMI 1.3 Spec... The Duo 2 Is Full 1080p And Has HDMI 1.4, Which Is Capable Of 4K By 2K @ 24 ~ 30 Frames Per Second...

So Even Assuming The Duo2 Could Handle The HEVC Codec, It Most Certainly Couldn't Produce 50 Frames Per Second... HDMI 2.0 Is Required For That...

Just did a scan on 13 East for channel 4k1.

http://www.eutelsat.com/en/services/broadcast/ultra-hd-channel.html
Solo2 picks it up but switches to radio background & just music playing.
No idea if its currently broadcasting anything else though...
