Hello All,
Just read this (by now late) news:-
On May 26, 2014, satellite operator Eutelsat announced the launch of Europe's first Ultra HD demo channel in HEVC, broadcasting at 50 frames/second. The channel is available on the Hot Bird satellites and can be watched by viewers with 4k TVs equipped with DVB-S2 demodulators and HEVC decoders.
So would this mean that by now there are more UHD channels via satellite, I can't seem to find the standard listed if there is. I'm hoping my UV+ Duo can manage this new standard, any info on this would be welcome.
Apparently, there are two types of UHD signal,
4K UHDTV (2160p) which is 3840 pixels wide by 2160 pixels tall (8.3 megapixels), which is four times as many pixels as 1920x1080 (2.1 megapixels) and 8K UHDTV (4320p) which is 7680 pixels wide by 4320 pixels tall (33.2 megapixels), this being sixteen times as many pixels as current 1080p HDTV
