View Full Version : ViX-HD_experimental
evening folks.
OpenViX-HD is my own personal experimental image, it is branched off from the original ViX image to support a new skin that myself and simonsez developed (YouViX) that uses the 1080 framebuffer that is enabled in the Gigablue drivers and because it doenst look right on the normal vix image. i thought i would put it out for download.
the skin is FULL-HD 1080 and the image has my own tweaks and things done to it so it may differ slightly.
Gigablue machines have support for this so the image is ONLY for Gigablue Quad atm, i dont have other devices to test. but i believe the 1080 framebuffer is enabled on Xtrend & OdinM9 machines also.
the image has the same feeds and downloads as per the original vix image, minus some bits that ive removed for compatibility.
the code in e2 has been altered for 1080 quite abit to make this happen which in turn has rendered quite a few plugins not viewable properly until i skin them. they will come soon. i dont use that many external plugins although a few extra ones have been done for those few who have been using the image already. there are a few niggles but nothing major. will all get fixed in online updates.

Congratulations guys on what looks like the start of something really great, hopefully you will find a way to get this working on other receiver's in the future i.e Solo2.
I'm really impressed with the layout/design and definitely think it's up with the best that's been available to date.
hopefully you will find a way to get this working on other receiver's in the future i.e Solo2.
Don't hold your breath, VU pretty slow to add 1080 framebuffer support so far...
feel free to send them more bug reports :)
i was asked what was the animated bootlogo was like, instead of trying to explain, it is attached to this post.
its nothing spectacular, but it does add a nice touch.

Rossi, have you tried the skin on new VU kernel & driver builds?
It no longer displays with multiple overwriting sections, just an oversized skin.
i havent tried it on new kernel/driver builds yet, but i think thats how it looked last time i tried it, too big for screen.

Because there's no need for you to log in. That's only for admins, for maintenance.
As rob says you don't need to login in order to download from the server, the login box Is for staff to update images and tutorials etc.

Don't hold your breath, VU pretty slow to add 1080 framebuffer support so far...
You can stop holding your breath now:)
20141021 drivers support 1080 framebuffer (except the duo/solo may need further kernel updates). So it should be possible to build this image/skin for the other VU+ models?
Maybe Rossi will look at this some time.
cheers

Build 64 holds the new drivers and also the required kernel config for the DUO & Solo. So shortly ViX-HD will also be available for all VU's.
Using it here on duo2 and works fine.

ViX day is Andy Black's creation going all the way back to the very first ViX image some 4 years ago. ViX night is also Andy's although that's only about 2 years old.

Not until they enable a 1080p framebuffer for 1080p skins.

It's been requested, but we've also requested that Transcoding is implemented ASAP on BCM7356 models, before the 1080p framebuffer.

Wow! this looks great, looking forward to installing this on my Solo 2!
Can someone kindly explain exactly what the 1080p frame buffer is and will it enhance picture quality further or just the GUI?
Thanks

It's the GUI, but it also allows a higher resolution for displaying photo's.
For TV there's no difference.

Yeah, but then you see that there is still work to be done.
Just came across this thread have to say as a new member this new developed skin is awesome looking so fresh and clean looking, as others have said it would be really nice to have this for the Vu+Solo2 in the near future.

Hi
Keep up the great work!!
I use Ruya for IPTV on Solo 2, since updating to openvixHD 070, ruya only displays in the top left of the screen but when you select a stream it returns to full screen but the info bar is not centered.
If you get chance could you look at fixing this in the next release.
Can add screenshots later if needed.
Thanks,
For a non subbed user to ruya all you can use is the menu screen. Im not able to access any other screen inside without a subscription which i dont intend on purchasing
Fair enough...but the menu screen doesn't display full screen either which would suggest if you fix that it would fix the rest?
really,? i thought i done what was accessible without a sub.
i will have another look. ta
Great looking UI looks clean smart and modern..many thanks for your work and to vix for easy integration and ability to restore settings etc from backup
(Vu+Solo2) Excellent work - thank you.
Great skin Rossi. Installed it now on my DUO2 and Solo SE.
2 small issues (if not mentioned somewhere else).
- closing pip disables audio. CH+ CH- recovers audio ( or change audio with audio button)
- event lines in EPG are hard to recognize. The difference in shade is to small.
I noticed in Sundtek plugin (little bit small screen) that (round) color buttons have a transparent 'side rings'. Is a bit annoying when the images on the screen in the background are changing a lot. Maybe this is on more places.

That's VU driver issues, also happens on original ViX image.
Does anyone know when this will be available on Vu Ultimo?
Does anyone know when this will be available on Vu Ultimo?
I know that the 1080 frame buffer has been activated in the drivers for the Duo and Solo but they still require a kernel update from Vu+ before rossi can build the HD image for them, I assume the same is true of the Ultimo although there is no mention in the drivers readme stating if the 1080 frame buffer was activated for this too.
is this available for solo2?
is this available for solo2?
yes and can be downloaded from www.openvix.co.uk although I am sure some one also told you this in another post.
Thanks, I had come to a similar thought but I could not find a solid answer. Wonder why they have not rolled out to the Ultimo yet.
If any testing needs done, I can do this

I expect they have already enabled itin the Ultimo drivers but left it out as a typo, that said it still would require a kernel update as per the Solo and Duo before rossi could build a image, so were are still waiting on Vu+ to pull their finger out.
Yes and can use apollo back up to restore settings etc.
do I flash through USB?
yes or use the image manager to download and flash the image directly (you can also backup and restore your settings from the standard ViX image).

as mentioned i believe thats a vu bug with the audio.
i will take a look at the epg screen, see what i can do.
ive added sundtek to my list of plugins to do. im just finishing up on a couple tings, then i can start to add extra plugins :)
all VU machines have been for enabled for the 1080 framebuffer, but we are only doing images for the latest gen machines, Solo SE, Solo2 and Duo2.
for now, will save some time building and sorting the images.
they may come at a later date but no gurantees on that.

Only the DUO & Solo required a kernel config update, but that has been done in the very first image with the new drivers.
In other words: ViX-images for all VU's support the use of the 1080-framebuffer.
But as Rossi said: VU-HD is not (yet???) being build for all.
what is happened?there is no updates since ver 90?

what is happened?there is no updates since ver 90?
ViX HD has been discontinued but its frame buffer and skin support has been added to the base image, you now just need to load the default ViX image and download the 1080 HD skins from the feeds, if your receiver supports them that is.

Sorry to jump in but I read through this discussion and couldn't find an answer to my question.
I have tried several times to update the Dreamplex skin to YouPlex Blue but when I try it looks to big for the screen and many of the options are off screen! any ideas/help?
Thanks in advance

Vix HD is no more. The 1080p framebuffer enhancements have been incorporated into the mainstream image. Please flash the latest OpenVix image then download a 1080p skin.
