Just updated my VU Duo using the on-line update, but now the box wont start, all I can see is a red light on the front of the box nothing else.
It's also not visible on my network....What can I do ?

Thanks.

My son is an electrical engineer, he had the said capacitor and now all is good.....Back up and running.

Thanks for the help and a great tutorial.

Cheers.

Hopefully this Red light will never appear on the Duo2

Very doubtful as it only ever affected the early Duo's, it' a fault that was rectified well over a year ago.

My son is very interested in a Twin Tuner Box, I have a early VU+ Duo, now as you all know It's an early model.
So I was wondering what is available in today's market, that is similar to my old VU+ Duo.

Thanks in advance.

Depends on your budget but if he's just after satellite and not cable, you cant go wrong with the solo2.

Is the Solo 2 the same spec as my VU + Duo ?
I don't have a budget.

Thanks.

Same spec in that it has only 2 fixed sat tuners.
Everything else (besides the remote) is faster & smaller.
Being smaller, it will only take a 2.5" HDD too, it's worth the update though.
Have a look at the chart at the bottom of this page for a proper comparison:

Looks like it has to be a VU+ Solo2.

Thanks.

The solo2 is far superior to the Duo.

Far superior but does the same job, just a lot faster & a bit smaller.
Solo2 would be my preference though for a 2 feed sat box.

TM-NANO-2-SUPER isn't a bad choice either & cheaper than the VU.

Agreed, they both do the same job, but the solo2 is a lot faster.

Yes I agree again, in fact I am using one rite now as my preferred daily use receiver.

Same here. TM-NANO-2-SUPER on current ViX builds also supports DVB-T USB tuners finally, signal strength not as good as a Solo2, but works well, so an extra option for another tuner, always a bonus.

Rather than the SOLO2 I would go for the gigablue quad, the PNP tuner option comes in handy.

It's a great pity that the Solo2 does not have the component output that the Duo had.

Yet another example a penny pinching by VU for no good reason.

The VU+ Duo2 is the only box to buy - extremely expensive, but it's the only box that does everything and is future proof.

Wouldn't touch gigablue with a barge pole.

HDMI is the way to go!!

Yes, but that's only one HD output.

With HDMI + Component you get two top quality HD outputs. Sadly the Solo2 lacks that feature which was on the old Duo.

Just noticed from chart on previous page that ultimo is mentioned as discontinued. Any particular reason. People who bought it must feel a bit peeved and also worried about future software support

Well, I bought my VU+ Duo in 2010 or there abouts and its never let me down once -I've changed the latest images, updated the changed images , updated the satellite freqency list , uploaded, downloaded and sodded about with it twice requiring a factory reset then a usb software setup (clever) and it still soldiers on problem free. Pity other industries dont build things as solid as this.

That chart has not been updated in a while, as far as I am aware all older Vu+ models have now been discontinued or will soon be in favour for their new three teer support system which is as follows.

Entry level
Vu+ Solo SE

Mid level
Vu+ Solo 2

Upper level (high end).
Vu+ Duo 2.
