Hey all you smart people on this forum!

I stumbled across an app called
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylt1ztq6T-Yto the iPhone, which after some modifications, makes it possible to stream live TV from the Dreambox over the net to your iPhone.

This seemed very interesting and I downloaded the AirVideo both to my iPhone, and the server program to my pc and made all the settings.

Then the problems started!

I found a forum in which these modifications appear to have come from... The only problem is that it's a German forum - and I don't understand one word in German!

I think I've managed to do all the settings and modifications. Despite this, I can only stream about 10 seconds to my phone and then the stream shuts down.

Now I wonder if there is anyone in this forum who got this to work with Vu+ Duo, and if he or she has some great tips that I can use.

I'm using: Vti-Team Image v.2.1

Hello again, and thanks for your time!

I do not quite understand what you mean by "19.2E" and "28.02" ...

I do not quite understand what you mean by "19.2E" and "28.02" ...

there is an .ini file that needs to be placed in pc on the server part of the software and the one i found is designed to stream from Astra 19.2 only and making one for Astra 28.2 will take a while as its aprox 1300 entries

Now I understand what you mean.
I used a program called "Bouquet Editor Suite v1.11", that made the .ini file automatically.

You can also use SlingPlayer Mobile for iPad AND iPhone and there are some tutorials to get slingplayer working on this site for the VU+

Don't you need a special code from your SlingPlayer for it to work?

Edit: Where can I find such a tutorial?

I was under the impression that with the Dreambox, it was possible to stream direct to your iphone without the need for a PC.

I read a thread on the PLi forum about it, they were using oplayer.

I spent weeks trying to get it to work with the duo, but got nowhere :(

This is a very interesting thread indeed. I was thinking of doing the same using my Windows Phone 7, although it's early days with the platform and there are not many apps yet.
Looking forward to finding more info on the thread :)

Thanks

I am interested in anything that works to stream to the iPhone in a simple way!
Maybe it's me who does not understand what settings to do, but I've tried both VLC and Air Video and not got it working so far.
Often work late at night and would really like to be able to glance at the games that I normally can see at home.

I use OPlayer App (on iPad and iPhone) it can stream directly without the need for a PC or server program. Works pretty well for the most part.

How does it work and what settings do you need to do?
Maybe there's a tutorial that explains how to use it?

oplayer is basically a video player that does an on the fly transcode of the file as you watch so its the same all you do it add the ip address of files and just play them they will stream through just fine

Ok... And what settings do I have to do in the duo?

Interesting, I have never been able to get it to work from my Duo, screen simply flashes for a second then does nothing.

Would be interested to know exactly how you set it up, access your duo.

Thanks

I have finally got it to work using OPlayer.

It requires that you have a jailbroken iPone so that you can download the files directly in Safari.
From Cydia, install the "Safari Download Manager" and "iFile".
After that, open the WebControls in Safari and hold briefly on the TV icon to the right of the channel you want to see. Select "Download Target".
Then open iFile and go to "/ var / mobile / Media / Downloads" where you change the file extension to ".txt" on the downloaded file. Then open the file.
In the text file, copy the url link.
Run OPlayer and paste the url link, and press OK.
Now it should work!

It is a bit tricky, but it works for me and that's the main thing.
But if someone has an easier solution that works then I'm all ears!

there are simpler ways to do this and without Jailbreak:

1. The manual way: each channel has a unique "service reference" that looks like this: 1:0:1:ca:2:31:0:0:0:0:
you can usually find it by looking under channel info or stream info, to stream that channel you just run OPlayer / Open URL and insert:

http://my-device-ip:8001/1:0:1:ca:2:31:0:0:0:0:
(replace the last part with the service reference of the channel you want to stream)

2. Using the "StreamInterface" plugin: I only tried this on Open PLI images, not sure if it works on other images. There is an extension you can download called "StreamInterface" which provides a simple HTML page on port 40080
On the iPhone/iPad: run Safari, load http://my-device-ip:40080/
you'll get the list of your bouquets and channels, select the channel you want, but instead of clicking on it, do a long press, choose Copy, switch back to Oplayer and paste the url there (Safari isn't smart enough to open OPlayer for such links). Enjoy!

Does this process work over internet (2mb speed) or will it only work over wifi network LAN?

You've made my day. Been trying to get this to work since day one.

With regards to your 2nd way of doing it,

I'm on Vix and cant find the StreamInterface plugin, so presume it's for PLi only, will investigate further. Using Webcontrol with the correct port doesn't work.

Running Safari http://my-device-ip:00080/ which is the default port on Webcontrol, brings up the screen fine with list of channels. But depending on where you try and copy, you either get a # or a huge line of stuff that doesn't work when copying into oplayer.

For example, trying to play Sky1.

Depending on where I try to copy, I either get

http://my-device-ip:00080/#or

h ttp://my-device-ip:00080/web/stream.m3u?ref=1%3A0%3A1%3A125F%3A7EE%3A2%3A11A000 0%3A0%3A0%3A%3A106%20-%20Sky1(space between h and ttp deliberately put in so it displays full line in this post rather than making it a shorter http link)

It's almost there, but the info has too much garbage in it as you will see from what worked below.

Your step 1 worked fine.

I fired up DreamboxEdit, selected Bouquet Sky UK® 28.2°e by B16MCC©

Then scrolled down my "TV User Bouquet details" until I found Sky1, held the mouse over it, and it popped up a window, the last 2 lines being

Service Reference
1_0_1_125F_7EE_2_11A0000_0_0_0

(Which if you compare to the line I copied earlier from the webcontrol panel, the webcontrol panel got all the info but added unneeded stuff)

I then opened Oplayer, clicked the "open URL" tab and entered the following

http://my-device-ip:8001/1:0:1:125f:7ee:2:11a0000:0:0:0 (http://my-device-ip:8001/1:0:1:125f:7ee:2:11a0000:0:0:0)Clicked on Done and after 2 secs. Sky 1 appeared on my Iplayer :)

Not a perfect way as I'd have to get the address of every channel I might want to watch inputed, but it's a HUGE start

many many thanks (ipod touch 64GB NOT jailbroken)

It's almost there, but the info has too much garbage in it as you will see from what worked below.

this is because the standard web interface provides a .m3u file, which is a playlist file but OPlayer does not recognize it :-(

One option is to get in contact with the OPlayer author and request adding support for .m3u files in OPlayer (which technically shouldn't be difficult to support) ..

The full name of the plugin that I talked about is "enigma2-plugin-pli-streaminterface" not sure if such plugins are just specific to PLI images or they can be ported to other images.

SD channels worked for me (although sometimes they can become choppy) but I doubt you'll be able to get HD channels.

You can find all of the references in the bouquet files in /etc/enigma2.

It would be relatively easy to parse the files to create a set of hyperlinks to your box. The only thing is the list doesn't seem to contain the service names. Does anyone know where the names are stored?
