View Full Version : [VU+ Solo2] CrossEPG scheduled download not working
Hi
I have configured crossepg to download at 04:00 once a day but every 7 days the epg is blank and I have to manually download, I had the same issue with Zeus so flashed to apollo and manually created all my settings again.
36399 36400
Ive attached my settings file and epg log. One thing I have noticed is that the epg.dat file timestamp seems to update every night but none of the files within the crossepg folder do.
Just one more thing, the last update in the log is 30/07/2014 7 days from 30/07/2014 is when my epg goes blank.
Thanks
Rick
Is your box on when your update time is set to run? I.e it is not in deep standby?
If your box is in deep standby at 04:00, CrossEPG will not wake it up. You would need to set a power timer to wake your box before 04:00 and shut it down afterwards (say 04:05). I do this in order to allow ABM and CrossEPG to run each morning.
As above, make sure the receiver is either in normal standby when the scheduled update is set to run or use power timers to automate it, or if you have a multi tuner receiver set it for any time you know the receiver will be active, both ABM and CrossEPG have Andy's enhancements allowing them to run using a spare tuner without interrupting you'r viewing, except for a small progress bar.
Hi, thanks for the answers, I never standby my box, it's on 24/7 and I never record at that time in the morning, do you have any more ideas as to what it could be, manual download always works.
Thanks
Rick
Is there a green tick next to the provider for crossepg?
Your settings actually say 2:30, not 04:00. Apols - that's the ABM start time. The log you attached shows CrossEPG working normally at 04:00 on 30/7. What's today's log say?
I just checked my cross epg gui settings and it defo says 'once a day' at 04:00
The log hasn't updated since 30/7
Yes I have 28.2 selected in opentv providers
does a certain process need to be running for the crossepg schedule to run, it runs manaully so its just like the schedule is not kicking in.
I just ran it manually log attached 36427 if that helps.
How many tuners in the box? If it's not in standby and is already tuned to a channel at 04:00 maybe it won't run if you don't have a free tuner? I don't have that issue in that my box has two tuners, is already in standby or has been woken from deep standby. The Quad Plus uses nearly as much electricity in normal standby as in operation which is why I set it to deep standby overnight.
Here's my log from the past three days - runs at 06:04 (after ABM which runs at 06:02). Must be something preventing the trigger at 04:00 in your case. The only thing I can suggest is putting on the debug log and checking to see if anything is blocking CrossEPG from running. In the meantime you could try setting it to 14:00 or something you could check in the log sooner.
Update should work with 1 tuner providing any tuners that aren't connected are disabled in vix.
I changed the scedule to a few minutes ahead, 2 x tuners, no recordings and saw the following error flash up
'Enough retries delaying till next schedule', debug didnt provide an answer.
How are the tuners configured?
both are simple, single, 28.2
My ABM runs at 01:30 and my CrossEPG runs at 05:00.
Can you try increasing the gap between them? 2 minutes is more than likely not enough. Set ABM to 5am and CrossEPG to 6am. Let us know how it goes.
My ABM runs at 3am and my crossepg is supposed to run at 4am but doesn't. It always works manually though, just the schedule thats broken, clean install of apollo as well.

Did you use the automatically select function when setting the tuner?
This is yours
config.Nims.1.diseqcA=282
config.Nims.1.diseqcB=3601
config.Nims.1.diseqcC=3601
config.Nims.1.diseqcD=3601
config.Nims.0.diseqcA=282
config.Nims.0.diseqcB=3601
config.Nims.0.diseqcC=3601
config.Nims.0.diseqcD=3601
If so, try following: putting Enigma to sleep with an init 4 command then delete the lines with 3601. (A single tuner will come up as diseqcA, so leave that as it is)
config.Nims.1.diseqcA=282
config.Nims.0.diseqcA=282
Abu, you are a legend, it actually worked after I changed the settings, I'm hoping it wasn't just the GUI restart that fixed it, will update when I know, would the same two lines work on a solo or would it just be one line?
Thanks

It would be just one line as it only has one tuner. Just delete the 3601 lines.
IIRC, they only get written when selecting auto. Subsequent manual setting does not seem to remove them. Could have changed, not tried it for a while.
it must have been the gui restart that temporarily fixed it, it didnt run on the next schedule.
I just tried setting a CrossEPG schedule with my Miraclebox. Set it for 5 mins ahead and stayed on channel. Nothing happened. Set it again for 5 mins ahead and went to standby. Nothing happened. Ran fine when I initiated it manually. Looking at the debug log there seems to be some issue with setting the auto schedule - see below:

Good spot, Where does that leave us with this issue?
I just tried setting a CrossEPG schedule with my Miraclebox. Set it for 5 mins ahead and stayed on channel. Nothing happened. Set it again for 5 mins ahead and went to standby. Nothing happened.Auto schedule works fine for me on the Ultimo. Is 5 minutes enough lead time?

Not sure, because it works fine at the moment on my Quad Plus, so I don't want to go changing anything in case it breaks :eek:
edit - had a look at the config files on both Quad Plus and Miraclebox. Nothing out of the ordinary and same as both of yours except for the time. I wonder what system watchdog triggers the running of Crossepg - cron? Maybe you have to have power timer enabled? I only have power timer running on the Quad+. I only run CrosseEPG manually on the MB as needed. I've left it in standby to see if it triggers later this afternoon (16:00).

And does it need a restart after your change? My auto schedule works fine but if I reset it 5 minutes ahead it doesn't do anything.

My auto schedule (on the Quad+) is also working fine. What's enough lead time - 10mins? 30mins? I suppose the answer is - it depends! Need a coder to throw some light on the issue.
Sure my duo 2 has about 5 minutes between running a bouquet scan and crossepg. No issues seen with build 23.
