I do apologise for this very basic question, but I am bit confused with all this external EPG modules.

My general understanding is, that instead of taking EPG directly from provider via satellite transmission, these modules download program information from internet.

Now apart from design differences, how do they differ from each other?
Do you need specific plug-in for specific satellite/provider? If so, which is recommended for Astra 23.5E, provider SkyLink or CSLink?

Thank you for your answers.

Go to menu/vix. Then ryvix. Then press blue for sources. Scroll down to skylink/cslink and press ok then press red. Now you can either set it up to donload daily at a specific time or press yellow button from ryvix menu and download manually and it will download 5 days worth of epg from the internet to your vu+

May I have another elementary ( Watson its elementary :-) )question?

What advantage do I get from this EPG in comparison with what's being transmitted over satellite?

EPG you get upto 7 days and with the sat is normally just now and next.

Well our satellite provider is transmitting 7 days.
Is there any way how to search in those data, or how to look for series?

Only if you use orginal box otherwise you need to use one of the EPG in the images and plugin such as autotimer to get nearer series link - but not as good.
