Installing skins question

I've got downloaded a skin for E2 I wouldn't mind using on my Miraclebox mini premium combo. How do I manually install them ?

if its an ipk:-

transfer the file to /tmp and install with local extension install in VIX menu
select it from the skin setup menu and restart e2.

if its a rar/folder:-
transfer the folder to /usr/share/enigma2
select it from the skin setup menu and restart e2.

Which skin? Is it compatible with the image you're using?

I found out it wasn't compatible so I used one similar from plugins downloads
