Editing SD / HD channel numbers since $ky killed off HD

Following on from the discussion on $ky killing off many HD channels, what do people suggest is the best (see also; easiest) way for me to replace the non functioning HD channel numbers with their SD alternatives?

For example I keep calling up $ky Sports News on 405 which now no longer clears in HD, and the SD version is on Ch.1285. I'd love to "renumber" 1285 so pressing 405 took me there instead. Kind of like a sym-link (Mac "alias", Windows "shortcut"). Same goes for all the other HD channels $ky have recently killed.

Does DreamBoxEdit provide this functionality (if so...how...) and, despite the name, is it likely to work OK with our GigaBlue Quad?

Do you use the inbuilt ABM? If so just change your region in providers to SD instead of HD, so in my case Sheffield SD and Sky Sports News SD becomes 405. Just remember when you have changed to 'Region' SD, green button to save then start scan and will take effect. :D

Thanks for the suggestion Andy, but yes it's a mix-and-match solution I'm after. Presumably setting ABM to SD would them "reorganize" the likes of Davd HD, BBC News HD, BBC2 HD off to other channel numbers, so no more 102 for BBC2 HD etc.

Downloaded, installed and was able to select it in ABM - however I couldn't find an option for "swap channels = yes" in ABM - am I looking in the wrong place? In any event - at the moment selecting 405 still shows $ky Sports News HD on screen and of course SSNHD doesn't clear. Tried an Enigma restart but it made no difference. Restart the whole box perhaps?

I have restarted my solo2 and gone into Epg but the look is still the same so I must be missing something somewhere I.e 106 is still SKY1HD as oppose to just sky1 or am I missing something?

Hello I've been doing this for weeks, in my. XML not only do I swap channels I also move the dark hd channels further up the channel list out of the way, if any body wants me to post it later on I will but you must unhide sections before uploading the XML. I also have one for cable which is in the abm section.

Great, seems to do exactly what we wanted! (405 >> S.S.News SD).

Curiously I needed to run a re-download of CrossEPG data after running an ABM scan with your XML installed (the EPG was entirely empty) but that only took a few seconds.

ViX ABM is so much cleaner than Liazer's in my opinion. My mates had this and they had missing channels all over the place, where as the ViX ABM are all hidden if not in use etc.

Would rather stick with Vix's ABM if possible. Just need to figure out how when selecting a category to work right

Ok bud. Lets say you are in sports;

421 is Chelsea TV then 422, 423, 424, 425 are hidden then you get BT Sport 1 HD. On ViX the in between ones are hidden where as on Liazer's not hidden and say n/a?

Swap trick only works in main bouquet on abm... (Sort of).

I would like to make my own little custom swap, can you point me in the right direction what to do? I have set ABM to SD region and what I want to try first is swapping BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4 and CH5 standard def to high def.

No you can't swap channels in any bouquet other than main bouquet unless you want to try and get creative with your sections but I wouldn't advise it...

You will have to edit the filter section so that your SD region is also included in the list of regions that allow HD swap.

You can edit the sections, you can even add your own sections but remember a channel is allocated to a bouquet before channel swap runs, so for example you can't hide adult section then move sky sports 1 hd to an adult section number and expect it to be hidden because it won't, it has already been allocated to the sports section.

Yes it makes sense, it didn't ask me to overwrite that's why I asked and now for some reason my sports section is in meltdown lol I have lost sky sports news sd and sky sports 1 sd. I have tried running scan again but no change. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

ABM was designed to mimic the broadcaster placement of channels. The sections are decided by the LCN. It was not intended for user customisation with regards to moving channels around. You can trick it by swapping channels around including non existent ones too.

You may be better off using Lraizer's version and use the custom sort feature. You can then decide on what each bouquet contains and in which order.

If you use the SD region, they will still be there, just different numbers. You also get the additional option of FTA HD bouquet. Granted that they willl not be at top of the entertainment bouquet

I think there is only ITV, bbc1 bbc2 cbeebies which are now in HD mate. The channel numbers I have is 103,101,102,614 but I don't think this is what you mean is it?

HD versions are 141, 142 and 178

It needs to be unrared and the .xml file needs to go to folder.

Did 3 boxes and all worked fine.

You need to transfer the XML to this location

and than go into ABM and disable sly UK and select sly uk black and enable HD swap and this will move all the SD channels to the same position as the blacked out HD but keep the ftv HD in place

What exact Image are you using (include the build version number).

That image is running a old version of ABM which may not be fully compatible with the file judge uploaded, try a newer image and see if it works then.

Might be a good idea for someone to add to the instructions that you might need to update your image to latest version?

I like the Sky Black XML guys. Only problem I have with it, which is more of an issue than fta channels being sd listed first. Is that with the Black bouquets, if you use the sections, like movies or sports, the HD versions are listed first in them.

All channels bouquet is spot on, but the sections are hd listed first. We use the sections for going to kids, movies, sports etc.

Yes but you will need to be running a newer version of ABM as it wont work with older versions, so if you are not already, update the image to one of the latest in the Apollo series first.

I'm in the same boat with Channel 5 HD being listed on 105 and obviously not working. I need to swap 105 and 171, I've tried editing the xml myself (no success!) by copying one of the swap lines and adding the channels I need swapping....

Works great with my Solo2, no noticable lag so far. Thanks very much mate.

The only thing i have noticed is a couple of the kids channels (CBBC HD and CBeebies HD) are still active. Is there a write up on how to edit the xml file to swap these channels?

The write up is:
Use a linux comptible editor like Notepad++. Do not confuse with windows notepad.
Use a different name for teh file/provider to the official ones
Backup file before trying edits.
Backup image before trying something new.

If you look at the xml, there is a section with the following. (I have deliberately ignored the filters. These are the regions which are allowed to have swap. Do not touch these)

It should be intuitive as to what it means. That is the status of it as I had uploaded. You are quite correct. I missed the kids one. For the kids ones that I missed, we would have to add

Lriazer's one is more user customiseable. If you dont mind the first large bouquet, you can make the swaps for numbering as well as sort channels in the other bouquets. I used to have the most used ones at the top of each bouquet with the rest in alphabetical order.

I love being able to do things for myself, I just wish I had some programming skills. I bet this is all pretty basic stuff for you boys?

Some providers are totally secure and you cant share a thing, others are okay,,,,, cant understand the difference. Sly UK was one of the most secure but has somehow drifted back a bit and maybe now this is them getting back to the top....

Brilliant. Working well on a GigaBlue Quad HD. No noticeable lag on EPG either.

My first mistake was to enable ONLY the UK Test provider in ABM - which resulted in an empty EPG even after re-scan and a box restart. Went back into ABM and enabled Sky England with HD (that might not be the precise description...) along with the UK Test XML / provider as well and it's working a treat. Many thanks!

Sorry i have been away from this thread for a few days but I don't know what the big ooh ahh is about, my XML doesn't place CH5 HD at channel 105, and mine places the HD channels well up the channel list.

Uusing your XML everything is fine for me except CH5.

On the EPG I have (in this order from the top) BBC1HD, BBC2HD, ITVHD, CH4HD all of which work fine as they're unaffected by $ky's recent change of course. Next comes CH5HD which goes to CH171 (HD) and that doesn't clear any more. I'd like the CH5 entry in my EPG to be CH5-SD - is there something daft I'm doing / not doing in the ABM settings?

For example should I be using an Sky England HD or SD region? And should I be generating an HD bouquet? Screenshot of my ABM Settings attached...

So here is another custom XML...

Features:
blacklist - always remove these channels from channel list
whitelist - do not auto delete
auto delete - removes all HD channels that are not on the whitelist and are not FTA
channel swap - most common FTA HD channels are swapped.

To use:
install supplied XML
select your region in SD only (no point in having HD channel order)
select if you want to channel swap

Hi guys, is there an easy way to delete the non working channels from the sky SD bouquet, so only the working channels are listed in the EPG?

As a quick work around, I went through and added all the working channels to "Favourites" only to find only one channel added :confused: I pressed down (Large circular button), clicked on "All Channels", highlighted the channel, pressed "Menu", then 7 "Add service to bouquet". I then pressed back to the channel list and carried on. I tried ABM S etc but "Favourites" still had only 1 channel. Any Ideas?

Having tried adding the working channels to Favourites, I think rather than go through and add hundreds of channels again, I think it would be easier to be able to delete the dozen non working ones?

Easiest way is let ABM create the bouquets.

And use Custom"Your Region" when you setup in Provides with ABM. Simples.

Huveos and Andy have already stated what you need to do.
Use autobouquetmaker to scan for your channels. Select region(custom). Change swap channels to yes.
Start scan.

Using "CustomRegion) DOES get rid of all the unwanted channels.
