Hi Guys, and girls..
I am a newbie and am glad to be part of your site, it is very informative.

I have the same problem I see a lot of guys posting and it is driving the wife nuts. I only bought my Duo 1 yr ago. But now when I switch on the rocker switch at the back of the box, the red light in the top left of the LCD is constantly on, and the words "starting...." stuck on display. It was working fine until I decided look up TSpanel and update the epg. But somewhere along the line I pressed "update all" and it started to download everything (all the updates, lots of Mb's). So I aborted this, I think by switching it off at the back and when I restarted it, it locked on me. I then shut down and tried to reboot with the usb in the front, and nothing, still displaying starting on the front panel. After several attempts at rebooting to no avail, I searched the forum and seen people with a similar problem, talking about replacing C807 capacitor. I took it to a company in the local Ind Est and asked them if they could replace this, and they replaced all three capacitors (C807, C814 & C850). I got the box home and still the same, red light and "starting..." on the front display. Can anybody help me... I am lost on what to try next? Or where to send for a repair. Any information on what to do next would be grateful.

A little info on the box, It is the model with the SMD (Surface Mount Device). These were replaced with a 220 35v capacitor on C807 and 220 16v capacitors on the other two as in the pic.

It sounds like you simply corrupted the image by switching off the receiver mid-way through a software update, never a good idea...

Did you make sure you had no other USB devices connected when you tried to fresh flash the receiver? If you had everything disconnected then perhaps try a few USB sticks and make sure to format them as FAT32 before unzipping the image onto it..

I reckon you changed the capacitors for no reason. When my duo got the red light nothing showed on the front panel, just the red light.. If yours has starting on it and a red light then it's prob just a messed up image cos you switched it off in the middle of the software update...

I'd agree with mcquaim & would almost be sure a fresh flash would sort the issue.
Also, depending on the image you had on it? TSpanel mightn't be a good idea.

Thanks guys, i do agree, I changed the capacitors for no reason now, as there is no change in the status. Thanks Mcquaim, there is no other USB's connected, the only other things that are connected is the internal hhd and the Ethernet cable in the back. I have a flash drive that I used originally. I have tried several time to reboot but to no avail.
Is there any other way to know if the box will accept the pen drive. It is formatted in Fat32 but am unsure wether it is the box or the pen drive that is causing the reboot problem. I have tried several new rebooting files with no luck. Can you recommend a file to reboot my machine? I will go out and buy a few more pen drives tomorrow to try.

Try disconnecting the HDD before flashing again.

Ok I disconnected the internal hdd and also the ethernet cable for good measure. Still stuck on, starting.... hmmm. Is their anything else I can try, desperate to find a solution.? Also, should I try flashing it with a whole new image, what is your recommendation on a good image.

Ok guys, a little update... first thank you for all the really useful info, as I would never had been able to do this on my own, but the level of help and knowledge has been second to none.
Now, I flashed it with a new bootloader and image using the pen drive I have always used, that was plugged in the back of the box and nothing. I then did the same with a new pen drive and voila!! Rebooted and everything is fine. Loaded a new image and everything is smashing. Must have been the software sticking.

Now I have to try and get all my channels back. Thanks again.

They are temperamental little things, I have a usb which I use for picons and timeshift, but if us try to flash with that stick it just won't, I have to use a separate stick for flashing........
