Just looking for some advice on the best way to update channels on a VU+ duo.

For sky uk I'd use the built in ABM plugin in ViX to automatically update your channel lists. You can find a tutorial at www.openvix.co.uk in the guides and tutorials section.

This would be very much dependant on the way you have setup your channels.
I find a regular satellite(s) scan the best option.

I work with a channel editor if it is only a few channels.Or I scan just the needed transponders.
