Helios 17 - .mp4 playback

Morning all,

Can anyone explain why VIX Zeus23 and Helios17 wont play ,mp4.

I have a number of .mp4 files on my Duo which plays back fine on the 2.0.8BH image, yet won't even start on my two Solos on Zeus23 / Helios17.

.mpg and .flv work fine on all images/ boxes.

Nope, I can't think of any reason.

Could it be a transcoding problem? im streaming the files over a network mount using powerline adapters which cope with HD content fine.

I will have to xfer the files to local USB mount to see if it makes a difference

Yes, I'd guess it is a transcoding issue.
Watched a bunch of MP4 files on various boxes, local HDD & networked HDDs over the weekend, all played without issue.

Normally I would say this must be an encoding issue, but as the same file works on BH we can exclude that.
So no idea,

I have the same problem the mp3 files play on my duo and played on my solo2 until I updated it from 3.808 to helios now the mp3 files have no sound

yep confirmed, i have xferred the mp4 file locally onto the USB stick and now the video plays but no sound. same on my other solo. Yet the sound and vid play on my Duo on BH 208 - this is a clean flash of helios 17

according to the VLC the codec is mpeg aac audio (mp4a), stereo, 48K whatever that is?

that that throws transcoding out of the mix.

Are there some codecs we can download?

Have you set 'AAC downmix' to 'On'?

very odd, none of the solos were working a few days ago, now all of a sudden they both work playing local and over power-line - i don't get it, nothing has changed.

Yes AAC is on/yes on all boxes

No. No such thing as an online update working without you pressing an update option.

No there has not been any update past Helios Build 017, as for Auto updating of the image, that's nothing more than a myth, updating the image is and will always be left upto the user to decide if they want to or not.
