Timeshift USB

I have formatted my USB stick to Ext3 using the stand MS utility, but when I try to use Timeshift its says it is not formatted properly, I can however record using the device.

Can anyone suggest a good utility or setting to use

How do I let me box initialise my stick?

go to settings>storage>initialise, this will put the stick to the right format
