View Full Version : [VU+ Duo] help installing vix image
hi
i am having trouble flashing my vu duo box.
can someone kindly confirm if the latest VIX Image is the Helios one (i assume it is as that iswhat im trying to flash)
when i put the file on a formatted usb and put on the front of the receiver it is not detecting the usb file
if someone can confirm if this is the correct version that would be great
thanks
Yes, that's the correct version.
Have you another USB stick you can try?

thanks the usb seemed to be faulty so i used a different one....i got the zeus image installed now
IS there a way to get the VIX Image Menu screen to fit on the TV as mine gets cut on the left hand side (I tried going on AV Setings and changing from there but that does not change the Menu screen)
Turn off overscan on your TV - google TV make & model & overscan for instructions.
Other than that (and reducing picture quality) Menu -> Setup -> System -> User Interface -> Position setup.
Also Zeus is outdated now, Helios is on the download server (http://openvix.co.uk).
thanks judge
i have installed zeus now so will leavehelios for now as i have just done a brand new build from scratch.
I installed Air Play but it does not work with Videos or Audio I play from my Apple iphone 5 device. Does anyone know how I can fix this so it works? I installed the Airplay plugin 0.4.1
Use OpenAirplay instead...
Thanks Judge....where can i find Open Air Play
It's in the plugin feeds.
Menu -> Plugins -> green button -> Extensions -> openairplay

I tried to search for my TV model however I can't find anything. My TV: Sony kdl52hx903. Is it possible that my model may not have over scan?

I think you must select “Full Pixel”.

Rob thank you very much!
I couldn't find anything!
I played around with the setting but I couldn't see any difference in picture quality. So I left it all on automatic. (note that I did not change the settings on the duo).
Are you supposed to see a difference in quality?

I also have 52hx903. It has adjustment for overscan. Home/Display/Screen/Auto Display Area=off. Then Display Area/OK. Three possibilities, Normal, -1 and +1.

I've set it to full pixel as you said. Looks good, thanks.

On mine it says normal, Full pixel and -1 on the HDMI inputs and normal,+1,-1 on aerial on standard def channels however on aerial HD channels I get the same options as HDMI inputs. Ive set my duo HDMI to full pixel and haven't touched anything else. Thanks for your help
Bad news, I was watching a match on itv hd and noticed at the bottom it had a blurry bit. It became a bit ennoying so I reverted it back. Put overscan back on, has this happened to any of you guys?

As you noticed not all contents-providers take good care of their work. It doesn't annoy me; better a line like that every now and again then using overscan.

I have seen it in Finland, but the opposite way. Teletext data is visible in upper part of the the screen. And allways this blanking-time error has been made by commercial providers.
Fair enough, will see how it plays out.
Hi all
when i press the buttton on the VU Duo remote to open my recorded files the box crashes and restarts so I am now trying to completely reflash box and setup the box again from scratch.
Is the helious (v 17) the latest software to install?
I have tried using more than 10 usb sticks now on m vu duo and I have put the latest helius software on this but when I put the files on the usb and insertt into my vu box the main dispa screen shows reading USB and then it disappears in 1 second and just loads up again the old image
Can someone inform me what I need to do to reflash helius on my VU Duo box please

Is your Vu+ Duo a clone? On the back do you have a v2.0 or v3.0 sticker?

Hi its definately not a clone as I purchased this directy from the world of satellite store it self 2 years ago.
When I installed the last image - I had to install the new Boot Loader for the VU Duo and then i nstalled Zeus (the latest at thattime)
I have now reformatted a USB stick to FAT32 and extracted the latest Helius image in a folder called vuplus and then "duo"
Can someone point me to the sticky thread which explains how to reinstall an image from scratch.(I cansee if i have missed anything out)
thanks
