View Full Version : [ViX_Misc] Official statement re vix support.
First of all Thank you all for the very nice and even the not so nice comments regarding the future of ViX ( yep there were certain people throwing street parties at the thought that we had decided to stop development ).
Officially OpenViX Zeus build 023 is the final image in the Zeus image line, due to a recent merge with the latest Open Embedded Zeus's time was numbered, as it was simply no longer possible to online update without causing a whole raft of issues, so we retired him and OpenViX Helios was born.
Not to worry though, Helios wont stay in beta for long, and we fully expect to release in a day or two at the most, last but not least, this time you can use a settings backup from Zeus when setting up Helios.

It was a april fools dude, so yes andy and the whole ViX team are still here and as dedicated as ever to providing the best Image possible.

i always say if you can not Laugh at yourself you should not Laugh at others and the vix team certainly had a good Laugh at themselves with this :thumbsup: keep it up guys

Trust me mate, three days with not being able to comment on the thread was killing me. we had to make it as authentic as possible so we let you guys fill in the blanks your self, while never actually saying ViX was ending, just Zeus.

It had to authentic mate, thats why we let it run for so long, plus the inevitable hate posts else where were the icing on the cake.
That's music to my ears to hear the good news.. I was in a crappy mood after hearing the news initially but you've just brightened up my day again :D

i think the real give away was when phoenix edited a post that had some links to the clues, that let us know something was in the pipeline.. non of us wanted to believe it but i must admit i was preparing myself for the worst :rolleyes:

Neithet its based on a different OE ( v 2.1 ).

too late, i already switched to blackhole. :-)
Why! I tried blackhole and within a minute switched back to vix....blackhole doesn't even come close to the vix image one bit!
You can switch back when vix helios is released :D

I agree, I had my box delivered with vix image & after getting used to it decided to just try BH & honestly with in 5 minutes I was back on Vix.Best image for me by far. One little request to Vix team please get rid of the very basic splash Vu screen in the next image & secondly it will be nice to have the image release over this long weekend so that we can get used to it :thumbsup:

Actually this is the same as with the Zeus-update: the reason for changing names is a huge 'under the hood' update (in OE). But at the same time the normal evolution of E2 continues as well.
Does the Helios image still contain the Crossepg bug (XEPGDB and XMLTV) from Zeus? That's the only thing that's stopping me from upgrading.

Not sure which bug you mean, but I use both daily.
Edit: Ah, sorry, I use Cross for Open-TV and the separate XMLTV importer, not XEPGDB and XMLTV in Cross (why would you?).
