Depends on preference to be honest

You would be best to have a lol for your tv model via google and hd settings for that

Then u will have the best possible picture configured for your tele to your liking

Someone else's settings may not be what you like or want !

Thanks for that I've got the tv pretty much setup how I want it.

It is just the a/v settings on the solo2 box.

Is it better to have 720p than 1080i or should it be 1080p although i know the broadcast are not that resolution.

Most (UK) channels are transmitting in 1080i. When outputting 1080i the TV's de-interlacer will be used, by setting the output to 1080p the ome of the box is used. Usually TV's de-interlacers are thought to be better (although any difference will be hard to spot), unless you have a very cheap TV.

Cheers guys, to be honest I can't really notice a difference between them. But some one said 720p would be better than 1080i for fast motion.

I don't think so: that would mean downscaling the video on the box (from 1080i to 720p) and then upscaling again by the TV (from 720p to 1080p). Scaling twice is never a good idea, and certainly not improving the original quality.
When tuning to (a number of) German services it's a completely different story, as they are in 720p. So then outputting as 720p is the best.

Set mine to 1080p 60hz tv supports is and is brand new so the software on it will do its job

And when it's setup and configured away from the standard manufacturers settings looks amazing 👍

60 Hz is not a good choice. In our region most contents will be in 25/50Hz, so setting the output to 60 Hz will do no good to the PQ (to put it mildly).
Best option is to set to 'multi': that means that 25/50Hz contents will be outputted to 50Hz and 30/60Hz contents to 60Hz.

And if the TV is brand new (and of a good quality??) I would use the TV's de-interlacer (so set the output to 1080i).

I set to that as use a lot of streaming to it via plex etc 1080p content

Think the Hz is set to multi on mine

Then using AutoResolution seems to be a good idea.

I just recently got this and I found just setting to 1080p would cause judder when watching football - it appears the box is catching up as it's not de-interlacing it well. Setting it to auto and thus getting 1080i output and allowing my TV to handle it sorted the picture out. Slightly annoying that you get a delay in change of resolution when going from HD to SD and vice versa (and I know I can fiddle with the settings there), but it's something I can live with.

Hi,

How would one use AutoResolution? Is this a setting?

Thanks

It is a plugin you can download from the feeds.

It's a setting in the A/V-settings. It will allow the output resolution to match the resolution of the video source.
