Media player not playing movies on external devices

Tried playing a movie via an external usb stick and i get the message no playable files bla bla...tried .flv and mp4 formats to no avail.

Another thing i noticed is my media player appears to have vanished haha but i have media scanner although that returns the same message when scanned.

Any ideas guys.

1- Media player = PVR-button
2- So you should use the PVR-button and navigate to the USB stick and press OK on the movie.
