AAC 5.1 audio outputs as stereo

Hi There,

I have a few .mp4 movies with AAC 5.1 audio, which my GigaBlue Quad outputs as stereo/
(or is it just my Pioneer VSX 1017 (6 years old) does not read it as 5.1, but as stereo instead)
Is there any plugin or codec that enables the encoding to AC3 or DD?

My box is running on VIX 3.808, kernel 3.3.8

My used to output stereo too, amp was OK because the same file played back via my bluray player would output 5.1
