Got a ET5000 it doesn't start on first switch on, you have to leave it on for a couple of mins then turn it off and on again to get it to start. Then it keeps dropping/failing on USB. e,.g the epg download stops etc. It also gets really hot. But now even with a fan on it, it is playing up.

Anyone know where i can get it looked at?

thanks

OK well fixed a couple of the problems - The getting really hot and USB problems were down to the flash. The VIX 3.0 firmware for the ET5000 still doesn't work properly.

Just the startup problem - I'm thinking it's a duff capacitor, has anyone fixed a problem like this before?

thanks

Then please elaborate as to how you believe ViX 3.0 does not work on the Xtrend receivers, to this date you are the only one to say this.

Not sure what is wrong in your setup then: my good old 5k has done well on all builds.

I have 3 ET5000's and none work properly with 3.0 808. They all get very hot, epg stops on downloading. This is a new flash with no settings restore.

The image has no bearing on the temperature of your receivers, make sure your fan is properly setup ( if the ET5x00 has one, never owned one so not sure ), and maintain a good airflow around the receiver.

Strange that. receiver in same position, install 3.0 808 and it nearly melts, revert back to 2.4 and it stays slightly warm. No fan in it.

Can you confirm that you are using the latest bootloaders?

Yes using latest bootloaders.

That's not what I'm worried about though - the startup capacitor is more of a concern.
