Guys

I have a Panasonic Smart TV in my bedroom and I would like to get my VU duo2 tuner streaming to it. How can this be done , do I need to download the mediatomb plugin as it is not available in the plugin downloads?

Also I have downloaded MiniDnla to the duo2 and I can see folders on the tv however the folders do not point to the media on the Hdd . Is there any way to change the folser locations on the Minidnla plugin?

Hope this makes some sense as I am on my second glass of wine. Happy Valentines (the mrs is not happy lol).:p

No experience myself, but
1- Try to use the DNLA-server (instead of the mini-DNLA)
2- Try to use the TunerServer plugin

Are these plugins available for download through The latest version of VIX?

You can navigate the TV to the location where TunerServer placed the files?

grahammcm1888

No . I cant see the service on the TV at all. I cant even see the service on my upnp app in my iphone? I have also disabled minidnla and this has removed the vu box from the tv.

When i use ftp i can see that the tunerserver plugin has created the tuner folder on the hdd. Still not able to access with pc/tv/iphone?

I am little bit further forward with this. Basically I navigated to the miniDNLA setup and set the share location to my hdd>movies which works fine and I can now play everything within the movie folder on any of my devices including my TV. When I select the tunerserver folder I can now see all the channels available but within the channel folder It shows emply. This is the same for my TV , iphone and ipad so I am guessing it has something to do with the m3u format of the tunerserver files. Is there any way to convert the m3u files to avi or mpeg4 ?

Have you thought about using XBMC
It is a media centre player
You will need a Rasberry Pi or maybe use a android media box ( Cheap)
You install XBMC onto the box and install the PVR plugin VU+ Enigma2 Cient on the box (This comes with XBMC)
I am using this to stream video, music, films all around my house via the network.

I've been using a Pi with my DUO² for about a week (since my bedroom box went tits up) works great with XBMC (or OPENELEC)
TV remote even controls it :D and when using the DUO²'s transcoder you don't have to buy the MPEG2 plugin either :p

Yeah xbmc with a pi or equivalent would be an option . Just thought it would be good to get the tunerserver plugin working with no need for additional hardware.

Ok guys I took the plunge and got a Pi. I set it up last night and installed the enigma 2 client addon. Initially everything looked ok. Connection was made and the epg started to transfer(this took nearly an hour) then the channel list. However when I selected a channel from the epg sometimes instead of video appearing I got a visualisation(with audio) then the Pi would crash. I tried this a number of times but every time the Pi connected to the duo2 it took ages for the epg transfer and would crash when selecting a channel. My first thoughts were the power supply(currently have 5v@1amp) so I have ordered a new supply(5v@2amp) which will be arriving on Wednesday. Has anyone experienced any of these issues before and if so what was the solution? By the way I see what you mean about the remote control marty !! Lol :)

Have you considered signing up to an xbmc forum, although I'm sure there is plenty of users on here, you will find specialists on other forums that will know how to overcome any issues you face.

Never thought of that tbh. I am hoping that when the new psu arrives tomorrow that will rectify the issue. If not I am going to try a fresh install of openelec/xbmc and see where that takes me.

Youll need to purchase the codecs to get sd working , dont need them for hd but youll get a lot of break up,
what I did was to make an Sd only bouquet and in the settings tell the plugin to only use 1 bouquet , that being the sd one obviously

I am having little success with this. The pi keeps crashing when I attempt to start live tv. I have tried ports 8001 and 8002 with no success. Playing movies or recordings from the duo2 is working fine. The problem is the time it takes the epg data to download. I cant get playing about with the setting as it is taking an hour each time the pi hangs .

NO YOU DON'T!!!!!!!!!!! :p

HD and SD stream perfect with the DUO² :D No need to pay for any codec

EPG can take a while, there are a few setting to help.
Off to work now but if you don't get it sorted post back here and DO NOT waste money paying for the codec.

You need to set the Epg to only download 1 day at a time, this will speed the process up for now. Raspberry Pi is a great device but of the cheap variety, somethings it will handle fantastically and others not so great.

I use an Ouya for my pleasure, it handles everything really well however it is common that the Epg can take some time across all platforms to download, some faster than others. I always found it annoying having to wait for the Epg to download every time I turned my box on so just cut it down to 1 day at a time and no its completed with 1 minute.

grahammcm1888

I had already set the pi to download the epg to download after 2880 hours (2days). The problem is when i have to reboot the epg download is started again. Marty what is your transcoding setup on your Duo2? And are you using the latest vix build as I am . I have read in some forums that the transcoding function does not work with the latest build (808 I think).

Make sure you have Transcoding turned off on your Duo2. Had the same problem with LiveTV on my S4 phone.

No problem I am also at work!

I presume that transcoding is always on on port 8001 and is preconfigured. I also assume that the transcoding feature in the transcoding plugin is for a secondary stream which you can define a port number within a range and set this stream up to your preferred config.

How did you set that up , I've got a solo2 and to get sd streaming without any problem I had to buy the mpeg2 codec , it's only £2.40 , and streaming HD was sometimes unwatchable

You can speed it up by saving the epg to the rpi and not selecting every single bouquet on your box

Transcoding puts out .mp4 so MPEG2 isn't needed ;) this thread is about the DUO² :) not sure but shouldn't the SOLO² do it too?

Marty, Yeah the TV remote works fine with XBMC/Openelec. I can only assume this must be done via hdmi as I had my TV disconnected from my network and as far as I know the Pi does not have an Ir receiver (it was stuck behind the tv anyway) . Hopefully I will get this working tonight as it is doing my head in.

grahammcm1888
20-02-14, 20:11
Just home guys and it would appear that I might not have the latest drivers as I only have a basic config page in the transcoding section which does allow the transcoding feature to be switched off.

So how do I install the latest driver ?!:confused:32757

grahammcm1888
20-02-14, 21:10
Getting there slowly guys . I took TLW advice and turned off transcoding on the Duo2 and set the port on the rpi to 8001 and I can now get HD channels only. Its still pretty inconsistent and the rpi requires a reboot every second or third channel change. So I am hoping the driver update works and then I will change the port back to 8002 on the rpi and hopefully get SD and HD channels. Just need to know how to upgrade and install the new drivers!

Get drivers from

http://archive.vuplus.com/download/drivers/
unpack the files and ftp them to "/lib/modules/3.3.8/extra" (overwriting the existing files) and reboot the box (not an E2-restart).

grahammcm1888
20-02-14, 22:25
Rob I have downloaded the latest driver , ftp to duo in the correct folder and restarted the box but on the info page it still shows 17/12/13. Do I have to apply the update?

Rob van der Does
20-02-14, 22:28
That is correct: that date will only be altered if the drivers are installed via an updated image. Do't worry about that: it's only cosmetic.

grahammcm1888
20-02-14, 22:40
Ok I understand. However I still only have the option within Webif to enable or disable the transcoding feature with no advance config possible:confused:

Rob van der Does
20-02-14, 22:42
OK, that'll be because the web-if is also old. So better use the box itself to make changes.

grahammcm1888
20-02-14, 22:46
can I update the Webif interface?

grahammcm1888
21-02-14, 00:27
Thought I would download xbmc on my laptop and give it a try. Hd and sd channels work fine and no crashing. The rpi doesn't appear to have the sd codec or something else is not right. The major problem with the rpi is the crashing and rebooting. Think it might be time to bin the rpi and use a small pc like a revo.

grahammcm1888

Marty I have now installed to the latest driver version but I cant access the transcoding configuration page on Webif. All I get is the basic setup as before. I will try setting up port 8002 via the box tonight after work and setting the rpi accordingly. Can you explain how you have an advanced config screen on Webif ? Also should I overclock the rpi as I have not done this?

marty
21-02-14, 11:13
Have you tried the settings in the duo instead if webif?

Rob van der Does
21-02-14, 12:47
As I said: the web-if you have is outdated and can't be updated. Hence you should use the plugin on the box to make all settings.

grahammcm1888
21-02-14, 15:49
Yeah the plan is to setup the transcoding on the box. I was just curious how martys config page was different if we have the same image/drivers?
