View Full Version : [VU+ Duo] A867 DVB-T tuner issue: looping and not tuning

Recently I've started using much more the A867 Usb tuner, mainly to whatch Italian PPV.

The issue happens randomly. This is what happens: while watching a program suddenly the duo starts looping audio and video broadcast (about 5 seconds) on that channel. If I try to switch to another DVB-T channel i get tuning error (not find on PAT). And if I turn back to the affected channel it starts looping again.

In this situation I can tune the satellite channels.

To restore dvb-T reception I've to restart the receiver.

Attached the e2 log.

Just want to add some more news:

since 3.0, I've even tried Zeus, Helios and Apollo with a new DVB-T usb tuner the HAUPPAUGE WinTV-NOVA-T-stick-HD and the issue is still there.

When this issue happens the receiver is no more able to tune on Tuner C (dvbt) and it just play in loop the last dvbt viewed channel.

Here I link to a video showing the beaviour.

Using a Win-Nova-T here without issue, how strong is the signal you're getting on it?
Have you tried any other USB ports? maybe it's not getting enough power...

this issue is happening on two different DUOs. (tested bot with A867 and WinNova).
And The issue happens after few days of use and not suddenly.
The signal is ok.

Which receiver are U using?

Have it plugged into a GBQuad at the moment, previously used it on ExT & VU.
Maybe set a power timer to reboot the box over night.

That's an option of course.
But I would like to understand what's going on.

Another update about the issue.
This is the second time it happens. But the first time that I noticed it I just thought that it was my fault, but now I'm sure it's an issue:
was watching a DVB-T channel and suddenly all went black. Tried to tune other DVB-T channels and did not work too.
Went in Tuner settings and with surprise I found that the terrestrial provider switched by itself on Scandinavia.
So I reverted it back to Italy as terresrtial provider rebooted the decoder and al went ok.
WTF?

just want to add that at present I'm on Apollo 007

I'd like to update this thread since the most update versions of VIXimage still cause this problem.
That is to say that after an uncertain period the VU+DUO is unable to tune using TunerC aka DVB-T tuner (HAUPPAUGE WinTV-NOVA-T-stick-HD)

OpenVix 3.2 build 005
CCCam 2.3 from feed.
dib700 driver from feed.
Swap activated on USB (128MB)
CrossEPG XMLTV Italy

What is causing this issue?

Hello mates,
since this issue is continuing to affect my receiver I've made a wider search on other board.

It seems like that Vu+ itself has made some weird "driver update" and this very similar issue happens to many users on many different Vu+ receivers with dib0700 compatible USB tuners.

This is confirming me that, has I do remember, on old Vix versions this issue was not present.

Some news, maybe good.

At present my DUO is on openVix 3.2 built 036.

About 5 days ago I tried to disable CCcam 2.3.0 and install the older 2.2.1.
Since then the receiver is working rock solid. No need to restart and DVB-T is smooth.

I'll test some more and let you know if this can be classified as SOLVED

New update to the issue.
It's still there. After a while using 3.2.036 onward the issue come back.
I've had no time to keep you informed as in the past but as soon as I tune on SAT and then switch to any DVB-Terrestrial channel all goes blank and the message "SID not found in PAT" appears.
At present I'm on 4.2.006 and from 3.2.
As usual I need to restar the box and avoid tuning sat channel if I want the box to tune and not hang with spinning VIX logo.

@MarsArtis: I've bought a used Vu Duo that is doing exactly the same thing (but I've never tried with ViX images).

Have you solved this in any way? I'm gonna believe that it is a hw failure, because I have another (older) vu duo that is working without issues with a non powered hub, a cf and a867 dtt tuner.

Maybe wait for the OP to reply, but that may be a long time coming, he started the thread over 4.5 years ago.

I'd see what the latest ViX image does - take an image and settings backup first, and then you can easily get back to where you were if you really want to.

You haven't said which release you're currently using.

I've had the issue using OpenPli 4, 6, BH 2.14, 3.0.5 and OBH latest release. The issue shows using A867, AS102 and ITE 9135. I've tried with different hubs, with and without psu on hub and also witht the usb tuner straight to the usb back (and front) port.

Never tried a ViX image, but I think that the issue is not image-related.

The only thing that I've found to avoid this issue is:

As soon as I zap to a Sat Tuner the problem starts and a reboot is required.

I knew about this bug, because I have another Vu Duo with USB DTT tuner and I use it also for SAT channels.

On this Vu Duo I only use DTT USB tuner, instead. I've not configured the A and B tuners.

The issue I have shows up watching the same channel, too. After a while (usually 30 - 45 minutes), audio/video start to loop. If I zap thru channels, the issue is still there. Sometimes it shows the PAT message.

DS-1

After a lot of changes (different tuner/hub/swapped some of the critical caps), I think this Vu Duo has some hw issues.

The issue is always the same: sometimes after 5 minutes from the first boot, sometimes after an hour, it starts to show "sid/pat" issue and the image starts to loop or goes to black screen. Only one time it hangs totally. Nothing can be made to solve it but a reboot. I just have a doubt: I don't need a total reboot, just a Enigma2 reboot to fix it.

Should I try to use USB image to test if is it a NAND issue?

After a lot of tries, I've found that the issue shows after installing oscam.

Because of I use oscam.log in /tmp (so it uses ram) and I use always the same oscam.conf file, now I'm trying to use a different path for the log and doing a new blank oscam.conf.

Let's see what happens.

Interesting. But I'm quite sure I've only CCCam installed.

I've done an accurate difference check between the working vu duo and the "defective" one. I've discovered that the first always had more than 20mb of free ram, instead the second one (with just one plugin more that the first vu) had 12-13mb of free ram.

So I've downgraded oscam version, removed all the unused plugins and removed the usb pen I used for picons, epg and swap (in the first vu duo I use a CF card, that I can't use on the second vu because the hub hasn't a cf port): more than 25mb of free ram.

After these "mods", the second vu didn't show anymore any kind of issue about signal or sid/pat error.

I don't know why this happened, maybe the second vu has some problem with ram chips, I dunno...but in this way I've solved my issue (for now).
