Modem being affected by a treadmill

My good lady has a treadmill and when she switches it on my BT broadband modem hangs, really annoying and required restarting every time.

Can anyone think of why this is happening?

RF interference from the motor? see about fitting a suppressor to it? (or tell her to jog outside :p )
