General query not specific to build number.

As people may be aware, Lriazer's plugin also edits symlinks to ensure that picons are always correct.

As part of the development, one of the things he mentioed in post 591 on the other forum was

ive always thought the current way picons are named for 28.2E not very good, as they break every time the service id or transponder id changes even if the channel is the same channel. ideally picons would be better named with their channels unique epg id as this remain constant throughout the its lifespan even if its channel name, service id, transponder id changes. the only time a channels unique epg id changes is if it stops transmitting and its channel epg id is taken over by a completely new channel.

Questions:
Is it possible for service reference to include the EPG ID?
Do channels on other satellites also have EPG IDs?

The end goal is having a situation where picons do not have to be edited regularly. Hopefully those in the know can consider this. Yes it will be a change to Enigma, but in my view better for the community. The reader in his plugin is based on the OE Alliance ABM.

To tie in with a previous discussion, (being able to select FTA channels) is encryption type also available?

1- Is that 'EPG-ID' unique indeed? Always, for all channels on all satellites?
2- Be aware that quite a lot in E2 is connected to the service-reference. I think it's quite a job to change that, as well as all plugins that use that reference.
3- Encryption would (at least) require a new flag in E2.
