I've just had an unknown IP connect to my box on port 51413, is this a default port for something?

I think it is a default port of transmission. This can easily happen if you do not have a fixed IP.

It was transmission, strange as I didn't have it running.

Hi,
if you do not have a fixed IP you perhaps got a new IP from your ISP and the former owner of your current IP might have had transmission running.
