Hi,

I have be reading about Picons and I am confused about how to get them on my box which is Gigablue 800 SE. I am also using teh latest Vix image.

My box is connected to a motorised dish

I understand that I should put them onto a USB stick (I already have an 8GB stick connected to the box with EPG on it)

But what I do not understand is am I meant to FTP them to the box to a folder and if so which Picons should I use.

Or do I just downlaod them through the Vix menu as a Plugin. I saw a list of maybe 50 there and one there called tv-sandman.28e which I was thinking about clicking on (Sat 28 being the one I use most)

Or should I follow the instructions here:

http://www.world-of-satellite.com/showthread.php?9736-How-to-setup-picons-onto-usb-stick-ViX

What is the difference in all the Picons that can be installed as Plugins in the Vix menu compared to what is mentioned in the above linked thread.

Your help would be gratefully appreciated as I am well confused.

Thank you

Hi mate, best ones n maintenance free are available in the plugins section. Menu -> Plugins -> Green Button -> Picons -> scroll up or down and locate 'tv-ocram.shd.xxxxx' and press the ok button to install.
If your usb is inserted should give the option to install to usb.

Installing via plugins will need no maintenance on your part as they will automatically update when channels get moved, where as if you ftp them over you will have to maintain yourself and can be very time consuming.

Thank you so much Andy.

So it really is that easy and I have been reading and seraching threads in here for hours trying to understand what to do.

Is 'tv-ocram.shd.xxxxx' just for Astra 28 or will it have picons for other sats too?

Again, thanks a lot

So following on from yesterday I installed one of the 'tv-ocram.shd.xxxx' picon files but do not like the one I picked so I want to try another one.

I installed it to flash because the option to install to my USB stick did not come up eventhough my USB stick is mounted and the EPG is on it.

So anyway, how do I delete Picons on flash so that I can install another set?

Thanks

Same problem, I have a usb in, but the option is to install to hard drive or internal only. Why is this.
Also, can we not have one file containing all the picons for all sats.

If your usb stick is formatted as fat32 you will not get the option to install to it. You will need to format the stick with your receiver

yeah if you initialise usb to ext3/4 should recognise then. As for deleting picons from internal flash, go to menu, plugins, red button to remove plugins, picons n delete the one you previously installed.

Just to clarify this; another usb stick formatted ext3/4 has to be used..?
