View Full Version : system update not connecting...
morning all
box has been running fine on vix and been doing updates monthly to keep it healthy. last night, when i tried to check for updates it kept saying that a background check was in progress and it could not be completed. i then tried to add a timer and the box crashed saying it would restart in 10 seconds but it just hangs with the vix logo rotating in the corner.
tried looking for a crash log but there didn't seem to be one.

To fix background check in progress :
/var/lib/opkg/lists
Delete all files in there
Now do the update..

More than likely, yes.
It sounds like one of your opkg files has become corrupt & is filling the flash.
Removing it should sort both issues.
What is your current image build version ?, so we can know if you actually have updates to use !!.

its build 808 so its up to date. that background update message was coming up for backups etc too.

Then you have no need to run the image updater as 808 is the very latest public build currently available.

Same issue on my GB Quad
Noticed under /var/lib/opkg/lists I have a file "openvix-gbquad" at 1.3GB!!
What's that?

Corrupted file. Just delete it, run software update & it will be replaced.

That could also explain the issue you posted in your other thread earlier.

Was thinking that. If they are temp files should something not automatically clean them up?

No there not temporary files they contain info for the image feeds etc, but if it's that large it has become corrupted, simply delete the file as instructed above and a new clean version will be generated.
