View Full Version : [VU+ Solo2] Transcode Function - Is it working in the latest build? (808)

Hi,

I'm not sure if it's a known issue or not but does the transcode function on the latest vix image (808) currently work?
I've had very little success with the feature in LAN mode. Currently only stream over 8001 is working.

It's broken still on 808 as far as I am aware. Awaiting new drivers from Vu+

I noticed in the URL below that there are drivers dated 24/12/2013. No mention of what misc bugs it fixes. Anyone tried these?

Which ones are for the solo2. Hope they get it fixed, using build 796 and transcoding works but with a small resolution

I was running build 793 and transcoding was working, but after updating to 808 it wasn't. I manually installed the drivers dated 24/12/13 and transcoding is working again.

Hi,
I think the resolution will not change anymore with the Solo2. For the Duo2 VU released something new where you can choose between 160x120 up to 720p.

didn't work for me. Will wait to see if they are wrapped in the next vix build.

Well thats a little rubbish
One of the reasons I went for the solo2 was for the transcoding, and on my laptop it just looks pixelated

Hi Delvey,
Solo2 looks quite OK when Bitrate is >=500K. Transcoding was meant for portable devices like cell phone or tablet and there it serves its purpose.

But a tablet can have a 10" screen. The new ipad has a resolution of 2048x1536, compared to the 416x224 the solo2 transcodes at. Bitrate is not everything when transcoding. It just seems ridiculous to me that they used such a small resolution to output at. And like i said, I am disappointed. Yes it looks 'ok' on my nexus 5, but I was expecting more than ok from the solo2 in terms of transcoding. If I knew I would be limited on such a small resolution I would of paid more for the duo2, as transcoding was one of the main reasons I upgraded

This update to fix streaming is taking too much time, I used it quite often. Can you please explain to a newbye how you installed those drivers?
1) What and where to download it
2) how to install it
3) Any other settings/changed to do to have it working?
