Got a genuine VU Plus Solo that was given to me to try and get the box working again.

Its stuck on the red light, as soon as you switch on the box the red light comes on and stays there, even pushing the
reset button dont help.

Also tried to load a new image and also the Bootloader cfe_solo_2.0 from a USB stick, it wont respond from a USB stick
and then tried from the Com port using vu-util_v2.0.1 and again the box wont respond.....I have tried 3 different USB
sticks, all formatted to Fat32 and all have worked on other boxes in the past.

I am beginning to think to might be a power supply problem or a cap blown on the main board, as I last resort I have
used Putty and there is no output from the box......any ides what I should try next please?

What / whichbuild of the image you tried?

It's also a possibility that the bootloader is corrupt or the previous user flashed the wrong image, if this is the case you can only revive the receiver by use of a J-tag.

You can buy the capacitor for about 50 pence. Worth trying.

See the long redlight thread for all the details.

What / whichbuild of the image you tried?

Someone said try BH 1.7.2 but that was still the same......I checked as many pictures on the net as possible
and it definitely looks like a genuine box.

The Vu+ Solo to my knowledge does not suffer the same capacitor issues that affected the early Duo's, as without a internal HDD they did not tend to overheat like the Duo's did.

Does anyone have a link to the Jtag thread / tut please, I done a search on jtag solo and it only found one thread on the subject...I don't assume
these can be brought from Maplins?

Tried that thread and its mainly about the Duo and blown caps, From what I have read the Solo don't seem to suffer from blown caps
on the main board.

Been searching the internet for more info on the Jtag and found two PDF files, maybe someone here has used this method before? (not my work) plus I don't know where to buy the Jtag from....I assume that if it was sent back to a repair center, they would
reflash the Solo via Jtag?

I wonder if you actually read through the thread I referred to in my previous post? One of the PDFs you found on the web was already posted in that thread!

Try read through the thread again and following the links to other places, it might give you some more information.

Yea....Admin did post the same PDF file, but they also posted
"we just need to know where to get the J-TAG it self as no one seems to know" and thats as far to seems to have gotten, has
anyone here managed to recover a box using the Jtag method yet?

I did manage to find these on Ebay and there is also a UK seller as well.
