New VIX Image - v1.2
31/10/2010 - OE1.6

From VIX Team

Based on Official 5.3 Image

Enigma: 04-10-2010-experimental.
Enigma Plugins: 04-10-2010.
GCC Version: 4.4.3.

Team VIX Enhancements

All the same Enhancements as the previous image, along with some extra enhancements, as listed below...

New Enhancements in v1.2

VIX Duo 1.2 Bootlogos, Radio Logos and Shutdown Logos.
Softcam Manager completely re-written to allow users to add any softcams that are not currently available in the plugins server. If a script is not necessary, then you can just copy the binary file over to /usr/softcam/. This will allow you to use the binary. If you need a script, then andy will explain how to do it :p ;). Also, with the new softcam manager, softcams will start in the order in which you add them to the autostart. So, if you want oscam and cccam to autostart, if you add cccam first, then oscam, cccam will always start before oscam (basically, pointless ;)). So, make sure you add them in the correct order!. Also, some users need mgcamd to update entitlements (and other similar cam usage might be required). So now, if you want to stop a cam, the autocam checker will not check for stopped cams. For example, if you stop any autostarted cams, then start mgcamd (or whichever cam is not autostarted) manually, this will stay running until you either manually stop it and start the required cams, or restart your box.
Added more softcams into feeds. (scam.3.59, gbox.2.25, sbox.0.0.4.7)
Added some softcam scripts into feeds (still requires testing further). mbox, mbox-sbox, mbox-sbox-cccam, cccam-mbox-sbox.

New device manager - completely re-wrote to work better in the image. Swap partitions are no longer handled by device manager.
New swap manager - completely re-wrote to work better in the image. Swap partitions are read and handled by swap manager. Also, to ensure stability in swap creation, swap files have been limited to 64mb.
New image manager - completely re-wrote to allow it to work on both the solo and duo.
New IPK Installer, just copy your .ipk fle into '/tmp' and go the menu option.
Crossepg now moved in to the VIX menu. Also, crossepg has been updated to the latest version (svn 113).
Updated CoolTVGuide to version 2.10, tweaked code, so it launches 3x quicker. this will be the last version that vix will have built in to the image, as great as the plugin is it is just getting slow, ViX is going to start again at the beginning with GrphMultiEPG and build it back up with only the needed features that does not slow down the plugin. when this is done you will still be able to download CoolTVGuide from our feeds of you wish you use it.
Updated AutoTimer blue button, now creates the timer for you as well, no need to manually run AutoTimer update to get the timer added.
Updated AutoTimer background check, as default it now only checks for new timers whilst in Standby. you can turn this off in settings.
Updated VIX Team Vu_HD+ Skin.
Update SingleEPG you can scroll through the channels using Channel Up/Down buttons on your remote
Added Ghost HD skin.
Added Panic Button - Goes to channel number 1 in your channel list and clears browsing history
Many other enhancements under the hood to ensure a smoother image ;).

Bug Fixes in v1.2

Autotimer :- A modified version is used, with many bug fixes. The main bug fix is sometimes AutoTimer would sometimes not find events. ie. AutoTimer would find an event 'The Apprentice' on BBC1, but not find the same event on BBC HD.

Button Mappings

Short Red - Show current event info.
Long Red - Show current channel EPG info.
Short Green - Timers.
Long Green - AutoTimer Timers.
Short Yellow - EPG Search.
Long Yellow - IMDB Database. < --- Currently not working - read Known Bugs
Short Blue - Extensions.
Long Blue - Plugins Menu.
EPG - Opens the Cool TV EPG plugin

Known Bugs

IMDB Plugin not working correctly - This is a problem with the original plugin, and as soon as an update is posted which fixes this, it will be made available via an online update...
Motor moving image does not display - Problem with main driver, reported to VU+.
Front VFD display showing the play button at the end of a video unless it is stopped manually - Problem with main driver, reported to VU+.
ECM time on second info bar in skin is not currently shown - New version of CCcam needed for OE1.6. (libgcc_s.so fix is unstable).
Installing other skins may cause the box to get into an infinite loop. Only skins in the feed are tested and recommended by us. If you want to use other skins, you will need to use OE1.6 skins (i.e. those created for VTI 2.0 or later), and may need adapting for the image (espcially in terms of the CCcam info displaying on the second info bar)...

Special thanks for help in testing the softcam scripts:

Thanks

Dont mix up Coolepg with Crossepg. Crossepg is a epg grabber, Coolepg is a plugin displaying the EPG. Coolepg could be changed to another form in the future.

So we need both setup do we? Or shall i just use cool epg and setup the sources with the blue button for this release?

You can u Crossepg or RyVIX EPG to grab the EPG data. Coolepg displays the data when you press the EPG button on your remote ;)

Hi m8s

Things just get better like the improvement seems to load a wee bit faster too

One problem i found that may need addressing ... my box is connected by hdmi cable only when i installed the iamge via the usb on booting up i had a blank screen with vu duo on the front display I remembered this happen before so plug in a scat lead and was able to change from scart to hdmi.
Not so sure how many user would be using a HD with scart cable so can you tweek the image so future updates start with HDMI instead lol saves many thinking the image is duff sitting about looking at a blank screen. Apart from the gripe oh and lets be professional lads at the end of the wizzard setup it still says your "Dreambox" is now ready to use Lmao can u change it?

Online update went ok - just a note that it didn't keep the CrossEPG provider...

Well I thought it went ok, but later today I installed the HD Glass skin and then noticed I couldn't run Autotimer from the long green button - it said the Autotimer plugin wasn't installed (although it ran OK from CoolEPG).

I went to uninstall and reinstall it - uninstalled OK but wouldn't reinstall (from Setup/Software Manager/Manage Extensions).

So, I decided to reinstall VIX 1.2 from scratch - went OK except I wasn't able to restore my settings (I got tuning failure on every channel) - no problem, I reinstalled from DreamBoxedit and had all settings except there was no CCcam installed - and I was unable to install from Plugins (No Downloadable Plugins available)

Hmmm... I had backed up 1.1 so I tried restoring that from the menu, but it didn't work (VU+ just hung on "Starting") so I stuck the 1.1 backup on a USB, reinstalled it and rerun the update. Seemed OK (except once the update was finished you need to reboot immediately - I didn't and it greenscreened on the next menu). Rebooted, reupdated and immediately rebooted and now all seems OK.

Certainly not as hassle free as previous updates...

Thanks for that rockerduck,

Did the online update once and then twice to get 3 more packages. All my settings, bouquets, cccam (had to restart), swap (had to reactivate) were kept. Just had to re-enable RyVix as extension, that's pretty much it.
Tried the GhostHD skin as I loved in on DE but time/date displays in Russian as previously posted somewhere else.

Many thanks to the VIX team!!!!

Thanks for the update guys. Just one thing I noticed so far. I did the on line software update and the update completely overwrites your current channel settings list. I think its the Catseye settings that it has installed. Not a major hassle but get a backup of your own settings saved before updating.

Also could CCcam 2.13 be kept in the cams downloads? Works best with my setup

What it does is updates with the latest Catseye settings. If you have backed them up first then you can just reload the file you had.

Andy one question. I did online update to v1.2 and all went fine except one thing.
The smargo reader that was fine in 1.1 now says unknown or no card in entitlements.
I see that there is a smargo plugin in downloads.
Do I now need to install this to get the smargo installed.
Has the update changed something on the manual smargo driver I had installed.
Im recording a few programs and cant reboot so I said Id post here in the meantime.

have a look in '/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/kernel/drivers/usb/serial' if you dont see a file called 'ftdi_sio.ko' then install the extension, it is installed the the new image as default, but it might not be on an upgrade.

I had my own tailored Likra settings on the box and selected the update software from the Software Management tab. After the update Catseye was on. Think I will keep em on too lol.

Also I have had a couple of green screens. This was brought on by rapid button pushes while in a bouquet. I did the same thing again just to see if it would happen again and it did. Im running the Ghost skin, has anyone else had this happen with another skin?

thanks guys, strange thing with me was when i did the software update all looked good. so i waited a while for channels to appear, no sign. then i pressed blue button and select cccam info and got web page error. so then i selected menu, setup, vix and softcam and selected cccam 2.1.4 and also put it to autostart (note my original softcam was not visible, in fact there was no softcam noticeable in this field). still no response. so then i selected menu, standby/restart and restarted. then all ok. weird

Just a side note ! I updated online from 1.1 to 1.2 and had no problems whatsoever (although i did have to reactivate cccam) also all my channel lists stayed the same as well ! (im using our own VU-support list) so im well impressed @ the mo.

the swap it is only used when needed, ie when you run extra plugins, the main program enigma2 does not use swap memory

Hi, I installed V1.2 this morning and installed an unsupported cam called SPCS (Nasscamd), it installed without problems and I could configure it from the plugin menu, I copied the bin file (spsc) to usr/softcam and I could see it in the softcam setup menu, however, it wont start when pressing the green button, I get an error message (I don't remember it now as I'm at work). How can I define a script that can properly start it?

P.S. it works fine when I start it manually from the command prompt.

yes, just place the script in /usr/softcams , just make sure it is executable and has an extension of .sh, i would recommend placing the bin files in /usr/bin and editing the script to run them from there.

Hope that make sense :)

Hi

I notice the same as satsatsat that there is a momentary flash of the last channel and the screen does not go black.

Also the screen was not black after the new image installed from USB and during the initial set-up the image behind the menu was the EnigmaII one.

Finally, The images shown with 1.2 shows CoolEPG with part EPG and picture of current channel. I only get CoolEPG. Is there a procedure to follow?

Many thanks for all your hard work. The image is fantastic.

have a look in '/lib/modules/2.6.18-7.3/kernel/drivers/usb/serial' if you dont see a file called 'ftdi_sio.ko' then install the extension, it is installed the the new image as default, but it might not be on an upgrade.

I did have VTI 2.1 in flash so I factory reset just to clear out the system before the update via the USB method. What I didn't count for was climbing in my loft to dig out a scart cable, didn't respond to any key press it just cycled through the three display outputs untill the scart was connected. So maybe others not having problems updated from VIX 1.1. A warning to anyone upgrading from another image other than VIX 1.1 get the scart cable ready.
It's a nice fast image so thank you team for it. :)

Hey guys,
I also upgraded to v 1.2 only hours after getting the good news it was online, but I am ashamed to say i just downgraded back.Had freezes every so many minutes and i had the box record a channel for me while i went down to the store, When i returned i thought something was wrong with my dish because the recording froze and pixelated a few times a minute. The strange thing was the recording would seem frozen , but if i just rewinded a few seconds it would play the freeze point back without a hitch (at least for a few seconds again) When i downgraded back to v1.1 i seemed to lose my settings,( and resending them via ftp to the box didnt change anything, eventhough the box aknowledged getting the data) i could only see the number of channels i had set up as fav (with that i mean i only saw the channel nr, every nr was followed by N/A and a warning to check my tuner settings which offcourse i then did (a few times)) ANd if u hit software upgrade in v1.1 it brings you back to v1.2 .I too saw the massive amount of updates ( i got like 77) so i know the issues are being worked on. I sadly had to downgrade back to a dream elite image, which i was very content with till i found v1.1 I am not that content anymore so i hope it all gets sorted out soon because i reallyyyyyyyyyy loved v 1.1

One other small bug I get in 1.2 is after using software manager when it has updated on the screen (or box) that reports what has been updated or replaced I cannot read the text as it seems to be cut off top and bottom ! so I can only see about 2mm of the top line and bottom line of text ? mine is using HDMI and this happens in Skin : Blue shadow (i know its not an official skin) worth reporting anyway.

Hey Guys,

After staying up till 1am I think I finally managed to get everything sorted. A second update of 72 packages seemed to make the image a lot more stable. My swap wasnt been created as my USB stick wasnt mounted in the correct location (found this in another post). That is now working with a 32mb swapfile (is that enough?) so hopefully I wont get anymore memory crashes. Now my autotimers are set up and recording to NAS seems to work I think im pretty much done (although my PICONS only seem to work if they are loaded onto the internal flash but thats fine). After being on PLi for so long I didnt think that anything could beat it but this seems to be there or thereabouts.

Thanks to everyone involved in creating the image. You guys are awesome!

hi hate complaining on this image as never had to on previous versions of what is an excellent image. but i notice now that ccam is restarting at random times by itself. just noticed restarted there again for no reason other than i switched to a recorded program?
is there any way of sending a log for this to you? system did not restart so no standard crashlog?
also noticed on recordings they are freezing at random intervals and only way to restrt it is to fast forward for a second.

totally agree. andy sic and co deserve a good holiday once they finish all their hard work on this. for the moment it is now unworkable for me so am going to go back to previous version or pli whilst they get it stable. really appreciate all the work yee are putting into it. will be a fine image when finished.

what issues ?, need crash logs :), are you using a swapfile ?

Thanks Andy,
did you get any sleep the last 2 days? Eventhough v 1.2 is not as stable yet as we would all want, I have to say I am impressed by the work you delivered and are delivering.

The mention of a swap file has come up frequently in this thred. Does that mean that we all need to have a swapfile running if we want v1.2 to work?
Glenn

The issue i was having was that my recordings would stutter or freeze up completely. If i hit fw or rewind the playback would resume and even the previous freeze point would playback without a problem. It also happened playing back old recordings. I dont have a crashlog because the system didnt actually crash, it just halted and resumed

as pointed out earlier the reason for the picture freezing is because cccam is restarting every 10 or 15 minutes for some reason. other than that it is such a neat image. love the simplicity of downloading updates. great job.

In other images usually green or long green assigned to this. Im used BH 1.3F before, and i was able to access them with long green. Subchannels are available in these channels:

Ok, after some googling i fixed this for myself. Anyone who need this function extract this file, copy keymap.xml to /usr/share/enigma2/ and restart the box. Subchannels will be available with long green and you can still access autotimer from menu/timers.

What is best way for image vix1.2
1. upgrade old image vix1.1 Or
2. reinstall it through usb

Is it make any differance?

thanks

simplest is to press blue button, select software management and use the upgrade feature. note this feature should only be used when upgrading from 1.1 to 1.2. if you have 1.0 you will need to use usb upgrade process instead

I upgraded mine online from vix1.1 to the latest 1.2, just hit the button to get updates & off it went without any problems.
After the upgrade was completed I did have to add the CCcam.cfg and autostart CCcam but apart from that everything else was fine, all my setting seem to be as they were before upgrade.

hi andy {or anyone who h can help} i have reflashed twice and seem to have got rid of the greenscreens. will check the playback of recordings later. but the main problem which is still there is ccam restarting by itself. it works for bout 40 mins, sometimes less and then stops for few seconds and starts again? is quite frustrating. any ideas as is unworkable at mo

cheers all

what i can say is that i changed back to cccam 2.1.3 but yes cccam continues to restart on a fairly regular basis. it doesn't seem to be a cccam issue. maybe the new enigma 2 drivers due for release later today will solve the problem?

irishchris
04-11-10, 18:17
i dont understand how it could be enigma 2 problem as was working perfectly in vix 1.1 and all other images. just since monday since i updated to vix 1.2 it has begun restarting every few mins.

First of all, thank you for adding gbox! I'm just about to try a VIX image for the very first time, and thanks to this informative thread, I think I'm well prepared to any strange things happening during the process.

I did notice that someone had a problem when gbox was started, and I also saw that it was to be taken care of. Does gbox work now..? Maybe I'm a bit bold, but is there any chance for a working gbox for both tuners(twin)? In my old Relook I had to run two different gbox versions to get full twin-tuner action. I then could watch one channel, and record another. Unfortunally I don't have the needed skills to do this manually...:o

Being a newbie and all that, I'm almost afraid of asking, but since the subject is mentioned a few times in this thread, I thought I'd just give it a shot... Swap-file..? What is that, and how do I create one? I have a spare USB-pin, but in which USB port do I plug it, and how do I tell the tuner it's there?

I've updated from v1 and got all my settings, timers and things reinstalled. for some reason though I don't have any softcams installed though, if I go to softcam manager all the fields are blank and if I press anything other than red to close (such as autostart, stop/start) i just get a greenscreen. how do I reinstall cccam?

EDIT - found it! reinstalled via plugins and seems to be working fine :)

About the CCcam restart issue... There is indeed a problem with the new Softcam Manager and its function that checks every 30 minutes if the cam is active, and NOT with CCcam itself. Here's my cam.check.log:

2010-11-04 23:29: CCcam.2.1.3 running OK
2010-11-04 23:29: CCcam process is present, now checking if CCcam is frozen
2010-11-04 23:29: CCcam is frozen, Restarting CCcam
2010-11-04 23:59: CCcam.2.1.3 running OK
2010-11-04 23:59: CCcam process is present, now checking if CCcam is frozen
2010-11-04 23:59: CCcam is frozen, Restarting CCcam
You can see that the new Softcam Manager, althought it sees that CCcam is running, for some reason it thinks it's frozen and restarts it. Anyway to disable this?

Btw, did anyone have any issues with other cams, or CCcam is the only one with the "freezing" problem?

And one other thing... With the new version 1.2, restarting of enigma2 also restarts active cam, which IMO should not be done!

Anyway, this is a great image and I really applause the guys behind it. Keep up the good work!!! ;)

04-11-10, 23:19
indeed there is no better image. wonder if instead of full release that instead there is a beta release where a bunch of the vix fans get to play with the functions prior to a full blown release. it would save much of the stress and strain that andy has had to put up with with the release of this version. I know I'm as guilty as any in whining about things not working. am only too happy to join a beta testers group if its decided to be a good idea

Just wanted to say that I've managed to solve the swapfile-mystery, all by myself. :D Besides of that, I've been playing around, browsing the menus, zapping, editing the subtitle color, and stuff like that, and the only problems I've noticed is the green screen when I try to run gbox, and the fact that a warning text ("adult" movies are censored in Norway) alerting the viewer that this channel is censored, was stuck on the screen until I restarted the GUI. Not at all a big problem, but now you know. I think it was even worse in DE 1.3.3, by the way.

Hey guys,
I also upgraded to v 1.2 only hours after getting the good news it was online, but I am ashamed to say i just downgraded back.Had freezes every so many minutes and i had the box record a channel for me while i went down to the store, When i returned i thought something was wrong with my dish because the recording froze and pixelated a few times a minute. I sadly had to downgrade back to a dream elite image, which i was very content with till i found v1.1 I am not that content anymore so i hope it all gets sorted out soon because i reallyyyyyyyyyy loved v 1.1

ok, time to go back to vix 1.1. getting freezing every ten or 15 minutes on new image even though my system has the card in it. i have never had such an issue with vix 1.1. sorry to detract from this image but there are issues with 1.2 yet to be resolved. has anyone seen similar issues

I played around loads with my 1.1 image, removing various stuff, installing other stuff and I finally had it working 97% fine.

The only time it went odd was when I tried to do something while it was recording 2 programs at once, even picking a prerecorded program would sometimes bring up the egg timer and then cause the box to reboot. Seemed to be only if I had the box on say channel 3 and set up to record channel 1 and channel 2. The box would remain on channel 3 while recording the other 2 channels and as there's only 2 tuners, as soon as I tried to do anything with the box, it got confused. So I simply learnt to leave the box on one of the channels I was recording from. By doing this, I had zero problems.

Just mentioning it as was about to bring it up before new version was released.

I saw the new version and thought Yipee, and did an online update, repeating it a few times until all packages were updated.

Like the two above posters, I soon experienced very bad pixelation, like you would get with a small sky mini dish and bad rain. Doing experiments, it even recorded programs like this (problem I had a few months ago, playing back a prerecorded file would stutter, replaying it back would play fine like glenn650 is now experiancing, hence it recorded fine, seems this time it was recording bad).

It became totally unusable. So I decided it was time to re-flash.

Prior to using ViX I was a big fan of open PLi, so decided to flash the latest PLi and see what that was like. All my freezing stopped, but after using ViX since it's release, PLi seemed well kind of old, even after spending ages downloading various plugins etc, I decided it simply wasn't a patch on ViX.

So I downloaded ViX 1.2 and re flashed. First thing I did was check for any online updates, there was something like 75 packages :)

All I've done to the image since flashing is:
create a swap space (wasn't using one before)
Uploaded my channel settings and Picon files
Set Coolepg to download Rytec UK every morning.
Install CCam 2.14 and ftp across my config file.

Everything so far is now as smooth as silk. So it appears that for me, something went wrong with online updating (probably due to the amount of playing I had done with my old version, adding and removing packages etc).

I've got CCcam on autostart and so far it seems fine (tell a lie, a couple of times when I frst come out of standby in the morning, get pixalization for a few secs, then it's 100% fine, whether it's CCcam causing this though, I don't know).

So for me:

I did have freezing. This lead me to try out PLi again and realise how much better ViX is. Online updating didn't work due to all the messing around I'd done to my system and a simple reflash fixed everything. So maybe if others are having problems, they might want to try that.

I haven't yet tried to see what happens if I leave my box on 1 channel while recording another 2 channels. Anyone else experienced this? Would it not make sense that before the 2nd simultaneous recording started, the box automatically changed to that channel?

All I can say guys is well done, a superb image.

Hey guys,

VIX image still running great on 1.2 although Im getting a slight issue which I hope someone might be able to help with. I have a CIFS share set up with mount manager which sits on my NAS. Since Ive moved over to the new image, I seem to get random disconnects to the share and can only reconnect once ive gone through mount manager and refreshed the mount. Its getting annoying because im missing recordings. Has anyone else come across this and if so what did you do to fix it?

Dunno why you're getting them. Not got any frozen messages here...

Maybe your cccam is actually freezing!? Could be one of the settings or something?!

Well, since disabling autostart, I had no restarts at all. Btw, I've changed the default ports of cccam. Maybe this is the problem...

I had this issue last night too. My recordings were breaking up for a couple of mins, never in the same place if I rewound though. After 5 mins or so all started working ok for that recording, till I played the next anyway - when it did the same.

I will reflash my box today...

so what you guys suggest is to do a usb update rather than using the software upgrade feature on VIX and all should be fine then? While my system is working fine now, thanks to nitrogen, i still have some strange stuff. when i did have the cccam issue i uninstalled cccam 2.1.4 without removing it from auostart. so then i downloaded 2.1.3 instead and autostarted that instead. so then i had 2.1.3 and 2.1.4 in autostart. then i removed 2.1.3 from autostart but 2.1.4 is still left there. obviously this is wrong as 2.1.4 no longer exists on my system. i will do a usb reflash later in and enable autostart and see if cccam behaves itself

please explain solution to swapfile. many users interetsed

OK, I was wondering about the swap-file "everybody" was talking about, and that it might help making the receiver working more smoooth... After some manic minutes browsing around the different menus, I suddenly slumped into it, the menu I was searching for.:smiley_yup:
Menu/Setup/VIX/Swap Manager
There you'll find a small menu, letting you activate a swap-unit/file. I placed a dongle in one of the rear USB-ports, and scanned (I think.., don't remember...) for it. Then I formatted it, and chose it as swap-unit. Activated the needed settings, and voila... Mystery solved. At least it was a mystery to me, even if most of you guys already know about it.

For the moment I'm back with the DE 1.3.3 image, as I need a working gbox. I will go back to VIX when the gbox-problem is solved.

Did an online update to 1.2, and seemed to work ok. Then doing sw-updates afterwards went seemingly ok - until three ghost-updates appeared. Thought a cold-boot was needed - so down it went, and was off for ten minutes or so. Boot to GUI, and back to the updates. Yes, "At least three updates are available" - chose install, and it starts....and nothing gets installed or removed - and it still tells me at least three updates ar available.

I have just reflashed after having the playback glitching issue last night with 1.2. I flashed 1.2 again and did all updates. I then went to set up my brand new Samsung 1.5TB hard drive (it is on the approved list). If you set up the hard drive via the VIX menu - you get a green screen everytime. If you do it via the normal Setup menus it is fine...

Any chance you can post the error logs you got when setting it up???

If the hdd is not showing any error logs, then do the following (assuming that there are no recordings, playback, or other access to the hdd):

telnet in to the box
type the command: "umount /media/hdd"
ftp in to the box. you should have the files in /media/hdd
transfer the crashlogs to the pc
exit ftp
type in telnet the command: "mount /dev/sd*1 /media/hdd"
exit telnet
zip up the logs
post logs in the advanced reply

regarding the mount command above, the sd*1 is the device where your hdd is located. This will usually be sda1. It's best to check by going in to the mount manager, and seeing what location it says your hdd mount is using...

Thanks again

What skin is being used in the images. It looks like the Vu HD Plus but as in the image below there are progress bars for each service. Thats what I have been looking for. Also the Cool TV screen looks different. My currrent version still takes up the whole screen.

You need to configure it up to get the pictures to look like those I posted... For the cool epg, press menu button when in cool epg. For professes bar, it's in one of the setup menus (can't check which at the mo, and can't remember off top of head)

One question though, why go through the media player to view recordings?! Press the recordings button on the remote is much easier (and better imo). It's the button in between menu and audio...

Ive been running VIX 1.0 for some time now with no issues.
I put 1.2 on a USB, pop it in, flash it, all seems to install fine.

SEcond problem - I go to media player, and it green screens and crashes.

I mean, what is going on?

oh all sorted, sorry, i ran all the updates in software management.

another question though - what is the correct procedure with regards to loading the bouquet/scanning?

do I load the bouquet, via dreamboxedit, and then scan?

with regards to tuner configuration - what config do I need? i ran the scan under 'simple' , took of diseq or whatever, selected my satellite, 28.2, and then ran the automatic scan.
am i doing that right?

"Updated CoolTVGuide to version 2.10, but with our own code rewrite, it now launches 3x quicker than the original"

what i must read for a shit ???

who have rewrite Cool TV Guide ???

Andy, you know the only you do is to take the original class SelectBouquet(Screen): Code from sourceforge.net..
and change it at Cool TV Guide..
and this code from Dream you copy is shit too!!
first always the window come when you press channel + -

at all:
make a test..
press channel + - change a bouquet... press a program
make this 5 times..
now you have 5 Bouquets open!!!
if you press now exit... you can't get out with one click!!!
thats why because 5 Bouquets are open
so you see this code is shit...

Andy you want to tell all the users that this Dream code from sourceforge.net is quicker ???
5 Bouquets open are quicker then 1 Bouquet...

i must really laught at your Post !!!

Cool TV Guide have 2733 Lines of Code
and you have made copy paste with around 50 lines
you want to tell the people this is rewrite ???

and this is "with our own code"
never ever... this is the original from DREAM.. and not from VIX !!!

for all Admins:

if you don't believe me...
check this link...
and you will see..
i say the true !!

the next:

Cool TV Guide is testet at all VU+ all Dreamboxes from 800 to HD8000
and nobody say the code is slow...

so if you go back to the Graph.. no problem with this...
but one i can tell you..
my code have a Copyright!!! it is NOT Open source!!!
so if i find only 1 Line from my Code in your "New" Graph...
then i can tell you... you get a lot of problems !!!

The other thing is linux is an open source full stop if your code is accesable then i may be used if you decide you want to close your own part of the code and not distribute it then thats your choice. i know copyright law very well and i tell you there is no copyright infringement involved here mate. even if you closed your code and it was used then the linux open souce standard would come into play giving you no rights to copyright infringement

god that was indeed a rant. sorry to change topic but i'm returning to the issues of cccam restarting every 30 minutes with autostart enabled. this happened when i did a software upgrade from vix 1.1 to vix 1.2. So this morning i decided to do a clean usb install of vix 1.2. i did the following
- loaded the image
- immediately loaded all patches or the image
- downloaded cccam, dyndns and new skin
- loaded cccam.cfg, started cccam and set it to autostart
- loaded bouquets using dreamboxedit
- activated dyndns making sure to not make the update interval less than 60 minutes as this hangs VIX
- activated the ker*** skin (can't remember the exact spelling for the skin)
And thats it. Then I monitored the system and sure enough after 30 minutes cccam restarted. I removed autostart and all is fine. So if you do the update under software manager or by loading via USb, it makes no difference. Cccam will restart after 30 minutes if auostart is enabled

Just dont use Autostart on cc*am and that should stop the problem. (you only need autostart if you use multiple cams) Also someone else reported that the Dyndns caused a problem too ! so if you can set this up in the router directly, that way is better anyway.

you get a lot of problems !!!

You seem to be taking this a little personally? As though your the only one allowed to do what your doing?

read my post 203. To quote me,

Prior to using ViX I was a big fan of open PLi, so decided to flash the latest PLi and see what that was like. All my freezing stopped, but after using ViX since it's release, PLi seemed well kind of old, even after spending ages downloading various plugins etc, I decided it simply wasn't a patch on ViX.Do you know what the biggest thing I didn't like about it?

It was when I installed the latest version of your plugin, both I and my wife looked at it and said "No, that's horrible" going back to ViX.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the work you've done with cooltvguide, I'm simply saying the guys at ViX have tweaked it/rewritten parts or whatever, don't really care what they've done to it or how much of your (open source) code they've used, end result is their version is far far far superior and user friendly.

You should be pleased they've taken something you've created and improved on it, not throw a hissy fit like a 3 year old.

have to agree with what most people have said here. reluctantly i had to go back to pli for 2 days due to ccam restarting prob which turning off autostart now temporarily resolves. it is truly not a patch on vix image from epg to cool tv guide vix is superior. and yes cool tv guide takes about 5/6 seconds just to open after pressing it so whatever andy has done it is far superior if for that alone! so truly i think coolman should take andys code on board and implement and not take it as an insult that he has been able to improve what needed improving. keep up the good work andy.

Yes i agree with you!!

important is the speed at the end of the day...
and no user is interested who has chance or what has changed...

but i think we have more potential in this bouquet code...
and Dream must have a ground why they change and now they begin with class...
but the rest of the Bouquet code they made not the best...
so here is the potential to make it better...
