New VIX Image - v1.0
31/10/2010 - OE1.6

From VIX Team

Based on Official 5.3 Image

Enigma: 04-10-2010-experimental.
Enigma Plugins: 04-10-2010.
GCC Version: 4.4.3.

Team VIX Enhancements

This image has been written based upon bringing similar functionality to the vu+ solo as the vu+ duo... Andy's been busy optimising code from the duo to ensure that it works just as great and well in the solo :) Big thanks to andy :lifting:. Anyway, here's all the functionality:

VIX Solo 1.0 Bootlogos, Radio Logos and Shutdown Logos.
Softcam Manager completely re-written to allow users to add any softcams that are not currently available in the plugins server. If a script is not necessary, then you can just copy the binary file over to /usr/softcam/. This will allow you to use the binary. If you need a script, then andy will explain how to do it :p ;). Also, with the new softcam manager, softcams will start in the order in which you add them to the autostart. So, if you want oscam and cccam to autostart, if you add cccam first, then oscam, cccam will always start before oscam (basically, pointless ;)). So, make sure you add them in the correct order!. Also, some users need mgcamd to update entitlements (and other similar cam usage might be required). So now, if you want to stop a cam, the autocam checker will not check for stopped cams. For example, if you stop any autostarted cams, then start mgcamd (or whichever cam is not autostarted) manually, this will stay running until you either manually stop it and start the required cams, or restart your box.
VIX Device Manager optimised to work with the solo image.
VIX Image Manager - Allows you to take backups of your current image and restore the image.
New IPK Installer, just copy your .ipk fle into '/tmp' and go the menu option.
VIX Overscan fix - If the menus do not show correctly on the screen, you can alter the numerical value in the Skin Settings menu, to change the location of the menus/items on screen to show the whole menu.
VIX Swap Manager - Works with swap partitions and swap files. If you want to use a partition, you will manually need to create this yourself ;). For swap files, file sizes are limited to 64mb, as this is plenty for a swap file, and to enable stability with the solo image.
RyVIX EPG Grabbers.
CrossEPG Grabber - Includes latest image patch to import data without need for a restart.
EIT, MHW, FREESAT & VIASAT EPG Download.
Cron jobs supported - create the "root" file with the jobs you want to run in '/etc/crond/'
Autotimer image integrated in to image. Work has been undertaken to ensure that autotimers search all info to ensure that it picks up all available epg data to catch an event... Seems to be working great . Also, when you add an item to the autotimer, it will do a scan straight away to add all items to your timers. Finally, scanning for new autotimers will only take place when your machine is in standby mode. option can be turned off in settings.
CoolTVGuide Plugin integrated to image - Use epg button to load.
CCcam Info - Written specifically for image to help speed up skin loading. This is mainly used for the second info bar ;).
Recorded items list modified to allow moving of items, browsing directories, etc. Works similarly to suomipoeka plugin. Can be selected to load via the recorded items button, or from the tv button.
Permanent Timeshift Plugin integrated (Disabled by default, turn on via Timeshift settings).
Integrated VirtualZap (long hold of OK button).
Integrated EPG Search (yellow button).
Update Manger - Use the online updates to update the image to the latest fixes.
Wireless LAN Support
Smargo Support
Panic Button - Goes to channel number 1 in your channel list and clears browsing history

Button Mappings

Short Red - Show current event info.
Long Red - Show current channel EPG info.
Short Green - Timers.
Long Green - AutoTimer Timers.
Short Yellow - EPG Search.
Long Yellow - IMDB Database. < --- Currently not working - read Known Bugs
Short Blue - Extensions.
Long Blue - Plugins Menu.
EPG - Opens the Cool TV EPG plugin

Known Bugs

IMDB Plugin not working correctly - This is a problem with the original plugin, and as soon as an update is posted which fixes this, it will be made available via an online update...
Motor moving image does not display - Problem with main driver, reported to VU+.
Front VFD display showing the play button at the end of a video unless it is stopped manually - Problem with main driver, reported to VU+.
ECM time on second info bar in skin is not currently shown - New version of CCcam needed for OE1.6. (libgcc_s.so fix is unstable).
Installing other skins may cause the box to get into an infinite loop. Only skins in the feed are tested and recommended by us. If you want to use other skins, you will need to use OE1.6 skins (i.e. those created for VTI 2.0 or later), and may need adapting for the image (espcially in terms of the CCcam info displaying on the second info bar)...

Hi,

Fantastic image guys, well done to all involved!
Epgs all working fine etc...

Found a couple of bugs...

1st is only small and i only come across it randomly. If you go to softcam settings where can autostart etc and press menu on remote causes green screen and reboot.

2nd, once i setup image and connected to network it kept crashing my router, i could not get on Internet whilst vu was connected and had to hard reboot everything to get back up and running again.

Hope this helps and thanks again to everyone involved

So you're saying that without mgcamd installed, the solo is working perfectly, but with it installed, it crashes the network?!

My theories to try would be to:

1) Try editing your mgcamd settings, there might be problems there
2) Try a different router, I had some problems with cccam on a netgear router once...

Hi sic,

Did u download through plugin menu? And also where did u put your .list and .cfg? Was it /Var/Keys?

Everything works fantastic until i start the cam.

Thanks for your time and effort
Kind regards

Edit: Yes pooface thats whats happening, my .cfg is one iv had to make fresh as cant download through plugins, says something about not available through src, then disappears off download page, will take it straight out of vti image then test again, failing that will try another router tonight.

Many many thanks for all the help :)

Yes used mgcamd 1.35a from plugins feed. Check the port that CWS line has and that the port is open on your router. Thats as much detail as we can go in.

Hi

Image is very complete and well just some image quality is lower
In later versions, please upgrade image quality. If the image quality can compare with image VTI viewing of the image quality is lower compared with their image

Again, I appreciate a good image charge

Thanks

Hi,

How are you connected to your tv? HDMI? does changing brightness/contrast settings make any difference? (on box or tv)
Seems strange that other images are fine.

Hi Guys
Is there a web interface on this image?
I'm trying to view channels on a laptop via a router.
I can currently do this on a dreambox and itgate 220 and wondered whether it was possible on the vu boxes.
